The factory online had a big sale and I stocked up on some sweaters... but their sizing is weird on me. The medium fits great but the length is pretty short and the sleeves are really short. I'm tall - but not that tall and my height isn't even in my torso. I actually ordered a large too and tried that, and the sleeves went halfway down my hands and the shirt want past my butt! So bizarre! Sadly I have to return three sweaters I would have loved otherwise - but the large would be way too big.
One sweater though, is a boyfriend cardigan style - same size as the other ones, and it was the perfect length in sleeves and torso. So weird - right?
Has anyone ever noticed J. Crew sizing discrepancies? Or is this exclusive to factory sizing?

Hmmm I shop at the factory store occasionally and have never noticed their sizes to be off or different than normal. Maybe the specific garments you chose just had a weird fit issue.

@Meowkers: it could have been just those three sweaters (same style, different colors) that were weird... but one other sweater I got has a shorter torso than normal. It works and I am keeping it because it is cute, but a little shorter than I'm used to anyway. I wish they had the options to leave reviews! that probably would have helped my purchase.

Hmmm. I'm usually pretty good with their sizing and can almost always order the right size without having to return anything, even the factory stuff. Their tops are almost always long on me and the sleeves are always super long for me. I have a boyfriend cardigan and I have to turn up the cuffs, which are like 3" long (!!) to hit at my wrist. But I'm sure I'm a lot shorter than you.

@Mrs. Pen: I haven't tried factory but in Jcrew I always order tall (I usually order dresses and blazers). Bummers!

@Mrs. Pen: I'm 5'10! Bummers, no tall sizing?! What the? I already am frustrated in their stores because "we don't carry tall in the stores," "you have to purchase everything online." Ugh!

@Greentea: I get so frustrated when brands don't offer tall sizes. For the most part, regular tops work fine - but I always need long pants. LOFT as well doesn't carry tall in stores, but all these stores carry petite in the stores. Definitely frustrating.
I actually can't think of any store that offers tall in store. -
@Mrs. Pen: I would rock Levi 's if I could- they don't make tall at all! It has come a long way- in the 90s I rocked men's jcrew pants because they didn't used to make tall at all, but yes frustrating- would be nice to try something on in person!
Eta: I wrote Levi 's one time asking if they could start carrying/ making tall and they wrote me back, "we don't make tall."

@Greentea: I've never shopped levis, so I wouldn't know... but I remember how thrilled I was as a teen discovering that american eagle makes tall sizes! They were pretty much the only jeans I wore up until I had a baby - now they're too low. I love BR jeans now.
I remember hating wearing jeans as a kid because they were more like waders. -
I feel that the regular J.Crew sizing runs a tiny bit thinner and taller. My factory stuff fits me better since I'm a shorty (5 ft 4.. maybe it's designed more for the "masses"?). I think I should probably be getting petite in the regular store, but it's such a hassle to order it from the website and make the trek out if it doesn't fit.
it has been a couple years... maybe they do now...
