I'm sorry to hear about the BFN's and the dreaded arrivals of AF. I'm 10 DPO now and feeling super anxious about the possible arrival of her. I am feeling some symptoms that I've never felt in the past cycles, however I don't want to be reading into it too much either. They don't make this easy!!!

@nicolechris11212: are you not testing, just eating for AF? Good luck!

I had my first nurse free day with my son last night and it went so well I am prayin it continues! Hopefully this means he is ready. He asked a couple of times but h didn't beg or cry and he just sort of moved on and snuggled with me (we co sleep). I really hope weaning means pregnancy for me.

    @organicmama: hi! Any update?

@nicolechris11212: I'm waiting like you, I think! I'm at 12dpo. When will you test? Tuesday?

@MrsMccarthy: I hope that weaning does the trick.

@LindsayInNY: hi! I missed your update here! I'm so sorry you can go on HelloBee at work! I miss you during the day. I hope you are doing good. Keep checking in. And FWIW, I agree the roll call looks a little messy.

@mrsmccarthy: @mrsmcd: AF is due to arrive Wednesday. I'm going to test that AM if she isn't here by then. I am 10 DPO right now. So by Wednesday 6/4 I will be 13 DPO. But I do have a follow up with my MD on Tuesday...I may give in and test that AM just in case. Feeling stressed and very anxious but trying to stay calm! I almost wanted to test this AM but I am sick of getting BFN's!

@mrsmcd: BFN this a.m. but I'm still hopeful! Have a busy day of church, jewelry party and then finishing our front yard landscaping so as long as I don't see red, I'm keeping the faith!!

@nicolechris11212: is your md appointment TTC related?

@organicmama: I'm keeping the faith right there with you!

@mrsmcd: yes it is ttc related. I went last month for an initial infertility consult...or that's what they called it. She sent me for the whole work up and now it's to review all the results! Fx!

@AmeliaBedilia: @MrsMcD: thank you! It ALWAYS makes me feel better, hearing about older moms.

I went to my Naturopath today and got a lot of new info from a Saliva diagnostic I did in April. It evaluates your hormones throughout a cycle (every 3 days). Two important pieces of info:

    1) I have a lot of estrogen stored in my body fat (I'm not terribly overweight, but HAVE gained 15 lbs in past couple years), so my ovaries are not working as hard to produce estrogen, which affects ovulation.
Estrogen stores could be from BCP, eating meats with hormones, using plastic containers for food.

    2) My testosterone levels were through the roof, indicating PCOS.

So I need to get serious about losing weight, and only eat organic meats, and she's given me a supplement to reduce the amount of testosterone in my system.

It's a lot of info from one session! I'm still processing and need to do some PCOS research. Phew.

(Thanks off letting me spew this all out here. It helps!)

@MrsMcD: You are too cute. 40 is the new 30! I'm turning 27 June 10th, and am slightly freaking out. I just wanted to stay 25 forever lol.

@LIL BEAN: That's some really good info you shared, thanks. I don't have any reason to think I have pcos (28 day cycles and ovulate normally), but I need to lose a good 25lbs I gained studying for the bar exam....two years ago. I'm wondering if being slightly overweight is a culprit. I'm also wondering about the meats. I need to start cutting back on red meat.

I'm 8dpo today, and AF is due in 3 days. I may call about starting acupuncture this month if BFN. I had a fabulous day yesterday going to early morning yoga, a facial at the spa DH booked for my birthday present, and then hung out at the coffeeshop. I went to church this morning, and the sermon was about envy and jealousy. I could apply that to many facets of my life, including TTC. Don't be envious of other people, you don't know what it took for them to get there. Although, we all know it's hard not to be envious and jealous while we're waiting. It was a good reminder for me though! I really would like to join this church, but apparently they don't do communion which bugs me to no end.

@LIL BEAN: there are a TON if women on here with PCOS who've had healthy babies. I'm curious, have you had cd3 bloodwork done as well (FSH, AMH, E levels) I know hormonal fluctuations can also be indicative of DOR. Getting to a healthy weight and diet is ALWAYS helpful. I am going to start the SoCal Cleanse on Monday I think (gotta make suret son is fully weaned). It's a lot like the Whole 30 which I have also heard great things about. Good luck!

@dc yoga bee: I'm glad you got some good pampering. I so amazed at young professionals who are dealing with TTc! Sea like such a stressful load. I highly recommend acupuncture. I plan to go back next month if we can afford it. It helped me ovulate normally and was the only month I've done so since TTc

@MrsMccarthy: Sometimes I wonder if it's like, "Hell yeah just have sex all the time", or if it's still stressful timed sex for my friends. None of my business I know, so I haven't asked any of my husband's friends who have been married 2-3yrs. I'm not close to them, so we don't discuss ttc plans. When did you ovulate when you did acupuncture? I'm a late ovulater at cd 17 of 28 day cycle.

I often wonder if being overweight is a factor... I definitely need to lose some weight. I was doing great with the gym until the mc in December, then I lost all motivation.

I guess it just sucks that we (I) have to have these perfect conditions exist and have all the stars align to get KU, yet others have it happen on accident.

BFN at 10DPO. Not losing hope yet, it's still early.

@dc yoga bee: I really want to get back into church, I think it'd be healing. Happy birthday!

@LIL BEAN: I'm so glad you shared! Will you get your levels retested in a few months? I hope the changes you make will get you that BFP!

@MrsMcD: how are you holding up in your TWW?

@nicolechris11212: FX! I think we are DPO twins.

@MrsMccarthy: I am so sorry you have to wean. I really hope it makes a difference for you and you get that BFP soon.

  14. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@dc yoga bee: when I did acupuncture I ovulated on CD15 which was normal for me prior to having my son and when I ovulated when we conceived him. That's normal for me though. Lately I ovulate between cd17-cd22. I hope weanin changes it.

@Crystal: oh honey! It's so damn hard to lose weight while TTc! I gained 10 pounds since we started. The stress makes me eat. It can't hurt though and I've read that it's a big factor in hormones. I hope you have your baby soon. Thanks for you support re weaning. I am actually handling it really well. I think it helped that I had these past 6 months to try and do it gradually.

@Keppa that's my suggestion for you too! Do a gradual wean. You should look up Dr. Jay Gordon's night weaning technique. It's not cry free but it's very reassuring and reminded me that while my son may have been angry he wasn't hungry when we weaned and he is actually WAY more cuddly and into being close to me than before we weaned. He gets really excited for his yogurt pouch every morning and he is still my tiny baby. Weaning doesn't mean the end of baby, just a new phase. Hugs to you.

@dc yoga bee: I'm learning more than I'd like to know about studying for bar exams! My DH wrote NY bar in February (almost passed- missed it by less than 2%!!). So he's madly studying -AND working full time- to write it again in July. Mega stressful! He becomes a compulsive snacker. And I get stressed watching him so I eat more! Eek.

The good news is.. He's planning to write 2 more exams after this! (California and BC, Canada). Isn't that great?!?! Wait....

  16. LIL BEAN

    cherry / 166 posts

@MrsMccarthy: my doc said its a pretty mild form of PCOS. I need to read more. And lose weight in the meantime. The good news is I was already in that frame of mind with summer coming and my clothes just not fitting right! **Help me out- what is DOR?

  17. LIL BEAN

    cherry / 166 posts

@MrsMccarthy: thanks for sharing all the weaning info! It sounds so difficult but I can imagine a cuddly baby helps makes it easier. Congrats on the next baby phase. I truly hope it helps get your BFP!

@LIL BEAN: DOR is diminished ovarian reserve

  19. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@LIL BEAN: I am SO lucky to have my son! Those of you still trying for your first baby are in deep in my thoughts. DOR stands for diminishing ovarian reserve. It's very common in women our age and can affect hormones as well. It doesn't mean no baby but just fewer good eggs so it can take longer to get pregnant.

@Crystal: @MrsMccarthy: Tell me about the whole putting weight on whilst TTC! I think the whole thing just really negatively effected my body image. I couldn't feel sexy anymore even though it's never something I had struggled with before!

@dc yoga bee: Anyone who says 'just have sex ALL the time' obis never had to try very long for a baby. Also I really don't think more actually helps as long as you get a couple of goes close to O, if it doesn't work it's prob due to other factors.

@LIL BEAN: I have no words for that level of crazy other than Good Luck to your DH! I'm sure he appreciates the support. I ate chik-fil-a for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for darn near six weeks while studying. The first two weeks it was Panera, but then we moved up the east coast, and chik-fil-a was closer in walking distance. I always claimed I wouldn't be one of those people who gained while studying, but who cares! I have the rest of my life to lose. It's just about sticking with it!

ETA: I promise I'm not a total slob guys! That was just for 6 weeks while studying for the bar, and I eat normal meals now !

@crystal: DPO twins! When are you testing? And tell me about gaining weight…especially since I started my TTC journey! I've gained 5-10 pounds in about a year. Wah…it's so hard! I try to eat healthy and for the most part I do…but I need to exercise a bit! Even go for a walk…anything that involves moving a little, haha.

@crystal: I get very tempted to test…more so in the mornings than any other time during the day, but I am sick of getting BFN's so I don't want to get my hopes up! I'm going to test probably Tuesday morning…if not, then most likely Wednesday morning. *baby dust*

So what do you ladies do about BDing when you don't feel well?
I got a surprise +OPK this morning on CD13 (way earlier than I've ovulated in any of the past 9 months). I know we need to BD but I've been on the verge of throwing up, just feeling very nauseous all day.
Do I suck it up? Or just let it go?

  32. MrsMccarthy

@Keppa: if you think you will feel better tomorrow you can probably still catch O. I usually like to BD unless I'm truly on my deathbed with illness. EOD should do though if you need another night to feel better.

  33. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

    @nicolechris11212: me too!

@Keppa: if I feel like I'm going to throw up, I won't. But if my just feeling "blah" then I'll power through.

@LIL BEAN: Your husband is a total go-getter! Three bar exams!?!?! Yikes! I took the CA bar exam in 2007. I've basically purged the experience from my mind. You must be such an awesome wife. I'm keeping you both in my thoughts.

@Crystal: So true. I'm only concerned about either of us catching each other's illness. But no need to kiss to get the job done. Only a YI keeps me out. Ouch. Its basically impossible to BD. I tried. (so sorry, so sick.)

And I wish we were neighbors! We are both always up late. When DH works nights, I start cooking some food for the week around 8 pm on Sundays and it keeps me up so late!

  39. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@MrsMcD: that's such a smart plan! I need to do more weekend cooking to prepare for the week.

If we were neighbors, I would have someone to go grocery shopping for wine and pregnancy tests with, lol. We seriously need to plan a meet up.

At this point not much stops me from BDing, gotta get it done. Poor DH. (Or, very lucky DH)
