I don't want to be a whiner, but I'm 35 and have trying for 8+ months. My FSH is 8.58, pretty high. My tubes are clear. Husband has great sperm. We can't afford IVF. I just feel like I'm losing all hope. Anyone else feel this way?

Don't be discouraged! 8.58 is actually really great for 35, and it's normal for it to take up to a year even for totally normal healthy people. Plus, there are a bunch of steps in between TTC naturally and IVF

@Shutterbug: Thank you so much! A fellow photographer, I see! Are you a professional? I am, in Oregon. I shoot mostly weddings.

I was going through research from my clinic and found something that made me think of you. They found that in patients 37 and younger who did 5 or fewer cycles with them not involving IVF, roughly 1/3 of those with FSH greater than 15 had a live birth, whereas roughly 2/3 of those with FSH 8 or lower had pregnancy leading to a live birth in that time frame.
8 was considered the normal group (it's not high!) and I think this shows that with minimal interventions at the most your chances are pretty good.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling down But I agree-don't lose hope yet!
And BTW, feel free to stop by the weekly IF check-ins. They're super helpful in staying positive, I've found!

@LittleLashesToes: Could you possibly use Clomid? That doesn't cost much and could be an option? Your FSH isn't high (under 10 is good!) and the other things you mentioned are great. And 8 months is about the average, so don't give up hope at all! Do you have coverage for IUI's?

My FSH was a 20.3 and while I needed assistance (injections plus IUI) to get pregnant, I did not have to do IVF. Hang in there, it will happen for you guys!

@LittleLashesToes: Hey there fellow Oregonian
Infertility treatments in general terrify me, and I'm only 24 but have been trying for 7 months. Try to keep your head up, this journey just sucks sometimes!

I know how you feel! I always thought that once DH and I decides to have a baby it would happen in no time. That hasn't happened yet and it's hard. Good luck!
