@Raindrop: It's not close, it's about 3 miles from Churchill Downs, but yes, that is THE place to get one. They just developed a new one that costs over $50 I think. It's super fancy.

@avivoca: Yeah 3 miles is far! I thought it was walking distance, good to know.
Wow 50 bucks version! That better be darn good!

@T.H.O.U.: Oh yeah pressed sandwiches!! That would have been a good one! Darn no room... *shakes fist on deciding to put the hot brown in* haha.

BLT (I put cheese on mine, won't even lie)
Philly Cheesesteak
Reubens on swirled Rye yum
pretty much sandwiches are awesome, after I had both of my kids all I wanted in life was a turkey sandwich since I didn't eat deli meat during pregnancy

These things are totally disgusting, but a local favorite and my favorite, too. Fries, coleslaw, meat (any variety) and sometimes cheese. Haha it is so bad for you but tastes amazing. And no one outside of locals like them. I usually pick off my fries.

@Ms. RV: What do you call that?! It actually looks pretty good.. Though I'm not a fan of cole slaw (I know everyone else loves the stuff - include DH but hey more for him). Edit after looking at the picture... maybe it's not cole slaw! Haha sorry.

@Raindrop: It's a "Pittsburgh Style Sandwich". A local restaurant came up with it decades ago and now there are tons of copycats. I loathe coleslaw, but this coleslaw is made with vinegar, no mayo, so it is really yummy.

@Ms. RV: Oh that sounds yummy!!
In South California (San Diego), they have burritos with fries! So maybe it doesn't bother me because I'm use to that (I'm from nor-cali though). Hehe.

I LOVE sandwiches. Generally, a turkey and cheese sandwich (mayo, honey mustard, vinegar, and lots of veggies) will do but I am pregnant and trying (trying so hard!) to avoid deli meat. Right now, my go-to has been chicken salad. There is a deli near me that does an off-the-hook curried chicken salad. I often dream of that sandwich.
Just today, I had a Wegmans chicken salad sub which was sheer perfection.

@Periwinkle: Not sure if you know this... you can totally nuke your deli meat for 30 seconds (?) I think and you can eat it while pregnant! A lot of restaurants and fast food chains will totally do it for you if you ask.
Chicken salad sub sounds super yummy!

@Raindrop: Okay, so the new hot brown is $90 to celebrate the 90th birthday. It better be a darn good sandwich!

@avivoca: Whoa! Gold wrapped croutons! That's cra cra! Haha Thanks for sharing but that's way too rich for my blood!

@Raindrop: Get the regular one. I bet it is just fine. I can think of better things than gold-wrapped croutons.

I once drove 6 hours round trip in one day for a sandwich.....I can barely remember now what was on it, but I know it included avocado and dandelion greens. It was amazing.
Now? Give me meat. All the meat. Especially corned beef from a Jewish deli

@avivoca: Yes! This reminds me of a very expensive sundae I read about once... *googling* http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2142399/The-1-000-ice-cream-sundae-23-carat-gold-worlds-rarest-chocolate--youll-need-order-days-advance.html
1k! And you have to order it 48 hours in advance!
Something about gold leaf food...

Until this moment I didn't realize how much I love sandwiches!!!
I specifically love BLTs, when I was pregnant with E all I could stomach was a PBJ (and I eat one for lunch most days), can usually go for a grilled cheese (like Brie and apple!), love pulled pork and coleslaw...
I think my favorite is turkey, lettuce, tomato and mayo (but oh god leftover Thanksgiving dinner turkey sandwiches should be their own category!). My very favorite sandwich ever was a turkey sandwich with fancy garlic aioli, romaine lettuce and tomato on some fancy multigrain bread. It was like 11pm the night Ev was born and it was the first solid food I'd eaten (and I was starving)...I think cardboard would have tasted good but this sandwich was legit amazing, and it was from the hospital cafe!

@Raindrop: I like veggies in general, just not the ones that are usually put on sandwiches. But I love a side of broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, brussel sprouts, haha the list could go on.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@lovehoneybee: Yes embrace the sandwich love! Hehe.
@aprild: Oh I'm curious if those veggies were in a sandwich would you like that?
I recently made a corn beef and cabbage sandwich. Yum! Also I have totally made a turkey sandwich with roasted brussel sprouts in it (after thanksgiving!).

@Raindrop: I've done this in the past but for some reason the idea of hot turkey is not appealing to me of late

Egg sandwiches, whether scrambled or fried.
And stuffing, turkey, jellied cranberry, lettuce, mayo, salt & pepper for after the holidays.
And tomato sandwiches.
Or herb & garlic cream cheese and cucumbers on a toasted bagel.
Yummmmm.

@Raindrop: LOL. When I saw this topic, my first thought was "ooooooh, I love sandwiches!"
