I had a few horrible toothaches during the 1st trimester, and I've been thanking my lucky stars they didn't develop into anything odd or unusual that would need real treatment. Any of you who are ttc, now would be the time to make sure you're not overdue a filling or an extraction- I couldn't imagine either of those would be much fun with low level painkillers!

HA! I am putting off my 6 month visit to the dentist until after my LO is born. I have a tooth that needs a root canal and refuse to get it done while pregnant. I don't want them going anywhere near that area right now. Once I have my LO, though all best are off. I'll make an immediate appt with the dentist and specialist for the root canal.

Did you know that some Dental Insurance companies will provide an extra preventive care cleaning when you are pregnant? It's been linked in some studies to show that the extra cleaning helps with healthier babies!!!

Both times I was TTCing, going to the dentist was one of the top items on my "To Do" list. Dentists try to avoid x-rays for pregnant women, so I wanted to be sure I was able to get a complete checkup before hand, since I'd have to forgo the xrays while pregnant.

Yup my Insurance covers an extra cleaning during pregnancy. Gum disease is linked to pre-term labor so it's really important to keep up with your dental health while TTC/Pregnant

I'm six weeks pregnant and I'm off to get a root canal finished on Monday. Look after your teeth ladies!

Pregnancy did a number on my teeth! I had such toothaches in the third trimester. I was convinced that I would have to have filling in every tooth in my head. I was actually quite relieved to just have a root canal and crown done after LO was born!
So get your teeth checked - before and during if possible.

When I'm pregnant, I try to go every 3 months to a cleaning. With my first baby, I did have some cavities filled with no pain meds. It was very uncomfortable yet tolerable. And my dentist talked me through the whole thing which helped. I knew it would be very hard for me to go postpartum, so I did it before baby.
I agree... Definitely keep up on cleanings while TTC and when pg!

I'm six weeks along and just had a root canal done today and I'm pleased to announce that I didn't feel a thing!
My Dentist wasn't at all concerned about me being pregnant and when I was researching on the net, the opinions were split down the middle as to whether it's safe or not. I decided to trust my Dentist and I'm pleased that I got the tooth fixed.

My mom said that each pregnancy cost her a tooth, so I went ahead and had a checkup while pregnant, just in case.
