So I thought I read somewhere that you're supposed to save the boxes from baby gear like the car seat, swing, etc. but I can't remember the reasoning, so I'm thinking I imagined this advice! So bees, help me out, do I need to save all this cardboard or can I toss it?

Baby isn't here yet, but I will say it's much nicer getting hand me downs from people who saved the packaging! I think if it will make future storage easier, or if you plan to loan or sell some of the items, I'd keep it, otherwise toss?

We have the space, so I've kept every bit of baby packaging... I figure it will be helpful for people to know the item name, model number, instructions, etc. when I go to pass on or consign/resell things. If you don't have the room though, then maybe take a photo of the package? Then you could print it out later on?

We kept the boxes but we have lots of space for them in the basement and know we're moving in a year. Otherwise I don't know if we would have bothered. Maybe the boxes could also be helpful for storing these items between babies?

I've recycled every box that's come in this house. I just don't have the space to keep them all. I do keep all the instruction manuals/information brochures to have when/if I consign/lend these items.

We keep them until we're sure we wont resell or consign them.
If we are certain we wont need it then we keep the upc with model and serial info plus the manual -
I kept them in case I needed to return it for any reason.

I recycle boxes & save manuals (and register products). I bought a swing off Craigslist and she had the box... it was a pain because then I had to recycle it anyways

I keep some, but space is limited so I toss out most.

we keep the boxes to things that can be taken apart and stored, like the Jumperoo and Snuggabunny swing. Most other things we toss, but we always keep the manual.

@JamieLee: we kept it and I'm SOOO glad we did! I didn't know about Britax Rewards until recently and it turns out we only need the $75 carrier to get the free $300 carseat. We need a second seat so this is perfect! I would have been SO SICK if we had tossed the boxes.
