Do you usually take your kids to funerals?
We usually do, unless we know it's going to be an especially long day or evening. To us, it's part of life and nothing for our kids to grow up being afraid of.

For family, yes, it's expected and I think people like seeing the younger kids there.
For non-family usually just DH will go on behalf of the fam and I will stay home with the kids.

We've taken her to two, though for one only to the service and not the graveside (she napped in her carseat/stroller at the graveside for one), and both times we ended up taking her out into the hallway during the service since she couldn't be quiet/not be a distraction. For the first funeral, the immediate family was very happy she was there. The second was fil's so we were the immediate family, so yeah

For family I would. I recently had a very close family friend passed away, I never thought of NOT bringing DD, but DH & I were both helping out in various aspects, plus DD had daycare anyway, so in the end we didn't bring her so we could focus on helping the family.

We took DD to our grandparents funerals, but I would not take her for a non- relative. She was under 2 for both of them and it was pretty miserable but I felt like it was important for her to go.

I would take her as long as it's not during nap time. Fortunately I rarely attend funerals.

We did because we don't have family in town to watch the kiddos. Depending on which side of the family passed, the other parent will stay outside with the kids. It's not "good" for kid's to attend the service/see the casket or see the lowering of the casket in Chinese culture. Services normally don't take long so it's not a big deal. And we can all go to the after service meal together as a family and see other family members also.
