I am planning to make my LO a baby blanket. I found a pattern I like (super easy, just garter stitch the whole way), but it's with normal weight yarn. I want to use bulky yarn on bigger needles. When trying to decide how many skeins I will need, is there an way to decide? I know I want need as many as the pattern calls for, since I'm using bigger yarn.

You will have to compare the gauge in the pattern to the gauge on the yarn you want to use. If the pattern says 4 stitches per inch but the yarn you want to use says that it does 2 stitches per inch, it will likely take about half of the yarn. Not sure if this makes sense, but happy knitting.
