Does it have lots of pockets? I use a 31 bag, the organizing utility tote. It's not a diaper bag, but it's easy to clean and has lots of pocets on the outside so it's easy to find things in a hurry. I wouldn't worry about it being a "real" diaper bag as long as it works for you.

The only reason I bought a diaper bag was because it's lined and I'm a stuff spiller The Vera Bradley website has a bunch of 'retire' patterns that you can get for $40, so that's what I did. It's cute, well made and lined.

Definitely use it. Don't waorry about what others may think. Why buy another bag when you have one that will work great already?

I say use it. I see people using designer bags as diaper bags and even gym bags all the time. I've been guilty of doing that, too, so I am a little biased. And if you have that great organizer thing it would work. Also, just be OK if you get spilled milk, vomit, possibly other things on it ... never know with these kids!

I voted for "buy a diaper bag" but I don't think it's obnoxious if you don't! I just voted for buying one only because, depending on what you put in it, a diaper bag can get quite heavy and a designer bag has a bit of weight to it as is, no? Also, my diaper bag is machine washable just in case. I had to put a poopy diaper in my diaper bag because I wasn't anywhere near a garbage can at the time...I couldn't imagine putting THAT into my expensive bag!

*But*, if you're all fine with that, then rock your bag and don't worry what other people thing!

Oh and I also keep my version of wet bags folded up in a baggie in whatever bag I use. My version is ziplock bags with the slider closing. I love those things.

I actually find bags that are compartmentalized make it harder for me to be organized. The pockets are never the right size for what I need so stuff gets spread around. Instead, I use gallon ziplock bags and sort my stuff that way. One bag is food, one is toys, one is change of clothes, etc.

I don't keep diapers in my diaper bag, that's in a separate changing pod that lives under the stroller. If I am without the stroller, I have a ziplock in my bag with diapering supplies.

I have a Kate Spade nylon (messenger) diaper bag. Lots and lots of pockets and it stays clean because it's SO easy to use!
You should use whatever you want. Who cares what other people think! The only thing is.. it's bound to get dirty. If it's monogram canvas, you should be able to wipe it down easily.

I didn't buy a diaper bag at first and used my sturdy J.Crew tote. It was okay at first, but I found it difficult to dig through to find something. Then I bought a diaper bag that was on super sale, and I used it for way too long. It was heavy, difficult to access, and was a pain to carry. I ended up using an old North Face book bag, and it is perfect for me in every way (small & light weight, lots of compartments, ease of wearing it on my back, etc).

Basically it's a lot of trial and error. I say use your bag and don't waste money on a diaper bag right away. You'll figure out what your needs are once your baby arrives, and you can adjust accordingly.
