DH and I are having quite the time with possible names! Girl names aren't so much an issue, it's boy names that are giving us trouble.

If he had his way, we would name a DS after his grandfather, a name I do not care for. I feel really bad about it, too, and have tried to like it because it's sentimental to him. No luck

So here's the thing: he suggested using my mother's maiden name (a surname that will not carry on, as my grandfather had two girls) as a first name, and the child could go by the nickname my grandfather had throughout his youth and career in the military. My grandmother even calls him by it. SO sweet, right?! But...is it strange to have a last name for a first name? Especially if it's not something as simple as "Smith" or "Cole"?
