This is a totally ridiculous thread but I figure I'll throw it out there. When you were planning your nursery or your child's room, were there any themes that you absolutely did not want?
I've never been a fan of Winnie the Pooh. Maybe it's because I knew a girl in High School who would always wear sweatshirts and denim button down shirts with Pooh on them, but he's never been my most favorite character in the world....

I don't like any characters! Winnie the Pooh, Dora, Thomas the Train, stuff like that. I also despise clothing that has those on it lol!

I hated characters too, until my son began to adore winnie the pooh from a board book we have, and I found some removable wall decals...they're on the doors of our armoire.
In general, I prefer stuff without characters or lots of writing.

I really don’t like all pink and sparkly pretty Princess themes. I hate clothes that say stuff like “Daddy’s Princess” or similar.

This isn't a theme but I'm not going to have my LO's name on the wall. I like a cute quote, though.

@bluestriped bee: I'm the same way! Hops was shocked when I told him I didn't want her name on the wall. I think he did. 
I compromised and said i would make a door hanger for her door that has her name on it.

Owls- something about them creeps me out.
Baby pink or baby blue- I like wider ranges of brighter colors.

My SIL is doing owls but i agree with you @lemondrop I think birds are creepy.
i'm thinking hawaiian for a girl and pirate for a boy i've always been drawn to nautical/beachy/tropical.
I'm not a fan of sports team or the overly popular characters

I'm not a fan of owls - I think I got owled out on WB with people using it for their wedding theme, and now it's spilling over into nurseries. A lot of the stuff is really cute, just not for me.

Um, clowns?? Lol! I had a friend with a clown themed bedroom and it freaked me out. My bedroom was mickey mouse themed and I think my parents could have done better

Nothing licensed, nothing too childish or cartoony (the baby is not going to notice the decor, so I want a nursery that is attractive to an adult eye), and definitely nothing aligned with traditional gender roles. I'd love to give a boy a beautiful rose-colored nursery just to shake things up.

I'm not a fan of pink or even lavender for girls, I'm using coral and blue.
I'm not a huge fan of boy themes for nurseries. Sports, trucks, weird animals, Disney or Pooh characters. I like patterns for boys instead.
I'm so picky, this carries over to clothing too!

@jessiejo17: I'm doing coral with blue, green and chocolate. The coral paint we found is on the orangey side of things (be careful there is all I can say...there are a LOT of pink corals...) and it matches some of my accents perfectly. We do have a "theme" of sea creatures but it's not overwhelming, which is perfect to me.

@mediagirl: I found my girl bedding and in person it is more orange coral but in pictures it looks pink, which I'm okay with.

I like anything that isn't super extreme, or very themed at all! I'd like to have a nursery that suits my tastes, is elegant, and will grow up well with the child.

I dislike all characters, as well as anything too girly or boyish. I prefer more neutral themes. Ruffles, tons of pink, cowboy or country themes, are just not my style.
What is my style? Nurseries that are not a specific theme per say, or at least not overwhelmingly so. Muted, peaceful tones, not too much clutter or loud pieces.

I don't like anything that is too "themey." No offense to anyone that has one of these, but I can't stand those nurseries where everything matches. Like matching crib bumper with matching sheets and quilt, with matching curtain valance and matching wall hangings. I think it's awful!
I also stayed away from any sort of characters (like Winnie the Pooh). I also don't like princesses or Disney themes.
