@Cherrybee: oh my god my DH is the same with the mail! In the past, I've literally had to make him go through huge stacks of mail that he just never opened. Like, some of it was from a year ago!! wtf?? what is the point of even opening it now? now a days, i try to open his mail or go through it every few days and ask him whats trash and whats to keep. ugh!

@CupQuakeWalk: I wonder if it's like the "broken window" theory of crime management. Like...when my husband is messy, I'm more likely to be messy (And vice versa).

So when I was single, it was so much easier because I would clean my house, no one else was there to mess it up, and I was more likely to do the small amount of work to clean up after just myself and keep it looking nice. But now if I come home from work and there is already a messy pile of shoes by the door--to make it neat, I have to stop and tidy ALL the shoes and remove the socks and put them in the dirty laundry bin. I don't want to do that when I first get home from work, so I just add my shoes to the growing pile. If I were alone, I would put my shoes neatly on our shoe rack.
