My DH is really good at putting the toilet seat down when he is done, I thank him for that! However, we had friends over yesterday and the one guy left the toilet seat up every time he used to toilet! I think at someone elses house, that is pretty rude. Does your DH leave the toilet seat up? Do your guests?
ETA: As in, the actual seat, not the lid

DH is very good about it, only because our cat would drink out of it if he didn't! We do have a couple friends that do leave it up, no matter how many times I ask them to please put it back down.

I agree, thats pretty rude at someone elses house.
I have had some guys do it at our house (FIL) and I think its really bad considering that is LO's bathroom.

DH used to leave the top seat up but I talked him into putting all both "seats" down (cats+toilet seats up=badnewsbears). None of our guests ever leave the bottom seat up but they aaaaaalwaaaaaaaays leave the top seat up. :((

@Ash: Oh we always leave the top seat up at home and at other homes, oops! lol I guess I'm more annoyed with leaving the actual seat up (as in guys using it), but if I had a pet that would get into it if both were not put back down, then that could get annoying.

Ugh. That would piss me off. We are a seat down home. I converted him by telling him the stuff we use to clean the toilet would kill the cat if he were to drink from the toilet. This may have been a stretch, but he closes it now!

My husband is very good about this. I really think you should leave the toilet seat the way you found it. If you found it up, leave it up, if you found it down, put it down when you're done. It's NOT hard.
We usually remind people to put the seat down otherwise my cat will flush the toilet. At least we have a good excuse.... although people still don't do it sometimes.

DH sometimes leaves it up but not very often, but it really annoys me the few times when he does and I go sit on the toilet seat without looking and nearly fall in!
I think it is extremly rude for someone to leave it up if they are just a guest

@Bao: I think if you find it up at other homes, then it's fine to leave it up. But ours is always down. Plus, I don't like looking at the inside of the toilet lol!

@Ash: I always leave the top seat up at other people houses - I don't like touching toilets. If I found it down, I'd probably grab a tissue and leave it the way I found it though.

Ugh, I totally agree. DH is good about putting the seat down, but when the ILs were staying with us for 2 weeks, without fail FIL would always leave it up. Gross! We have a friend who does it too. You'd think married guys wouldn't have this issue...

It's a 50/50 with the hubby. I just always make sure to check before I sit down, especially in the morning. Worse feeling is getting your butt all wet because the seat isn't down - *shudders*

DH is REALLY good about it because if he leaves it up and I go in there I make him go in and put it back down. Haha!
If I see it up I yell "Send in the SAR (search and Rescue), I could have drowned!"
I have had guests leave it up too. I dont say anything to them but I do find that kind of rude. I have animals and I use bleach tabs in my topilet bowl. So we are in the habbit in my house to just put the lid and everything down so it really bugs me when its up.

@Bao: My husband gripes at me for leaving the lid up ... not sure why it matters, ha. I get grossed out when the seat is up, but the lid? So odd. I feel like putting the seat down would be like putting on your seatbelt!! Especially for married men.

DH always forgets, but I just want him to close both lids. I try to give him the "scientific" reason that it will keep our toothbrushes from getting splashed with toilet water, but he just doesn't remember. Sometimes, we're still working on flushing! Yuck.

At home DH is probably 75% puts the seat down and 25% leaves the seat up. At guest's home I try to "leave it like I found it". If they have the lid down, then I will put the lid down when I'm done. I home I prefer seat down, lid up.

My husband always puts the seat down. But we leave the lid up. We don't have cats and our dog has zero interest in drinking from the toilet.
I would be HORRIFIED if my husband ever left the seat up at someone else's house. That is super rude as a guest.
