The only tv I watch now is shows I can download and stream offline on Netflix.
I've watched some of the most popular shows like OITNB. Sometimes you just have to dig to find those Netflix gems. So please give me some recommendations for lesser known things I can watch!

I watched Terrace House season 1 over the holidays. It's a very slow paced Japanese reality TV show that's surprisingly addicting thanks to the commentators. I found it calming

I like Mozart in the Jungle. Now that we're living abroad, we rely mostly on Netflix as well. We've just started Sons of Anarchy based on a recommendation. Pretty good so far.

We got rid of cable and rely on Netflix and internet based TV. Here are shows we have really liked and binge watched:
Stranger Things
The OA (like stranger things but weirder)
Narcos (just started... serious but interesting)
Santa Carlotta Diet (funny with drew Barrymore)
The unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (funny and kinda like 30 Rock)
Bloodline (DH was more into it... suspenseful crime drama type)
Love (quirky and with the girl from Community)
Master of None (with Aziz Ansari)
There's currently some good documentaries on there too...

I just finished the Santa Clarita Diet and enjoyed it. Not lesser known, but I just noticed that they have The People vs OJ on Netflix now, so good.

We are currently watching Rectify which is really excellent.
I recently watched Lovesick which was also really good. It's original title (Scrotal Recall) originally turned me off from watching it, but I'm glad I gave it a chance.
Club de Cuervos is also really good if you don't mind subtitles.

You've got great recommendations above, but we just finished watching "Travelers," which is a NOT-weird show about time travelers from the future trying to rescue Earth.... I know it sounds a bit geeky but it actually was really good.

I just started watching Ripper Street and I like it! I also love love Midsomer Murders (kind of like a British version of Murder She Wrote). I also like Doc Martin.

Oh and if you like docus, which I do, CNN has a series on for the decades 60/70/80. They're about 10 episodes each, lots of material there.

So it may not be lesser known (I've seen commercials for it a lot recently), but I had kinda passed over A Series of Unfortunate Events thinking I wouldn't be interested, especially since it seemed geared more towards kids. My DH and I watched a couple episodes with my sisters last weekend and really liked it. We've both commented on it multiple times since we watched it.

they're features instead of series, but if you're in the mood for classics, Sunset Boulevard and The Graduate are on netflix right now.
@autumn865: LOVED Master of None, the second generation immigrant episode made me sob it was so funny.
@pwnstar: just started watching The Fall, it's so good and I still love Gillian Anderson after all these years I thought broad church was kinda Twin Peaks without the humor (meh?) it was beautiful and the acting was great, though-- it's nice that the BBC shows are starting to look less like they were filmed on someone's home camcorder.

@Silva: DH and I stumbled on Top of the Lake one day and got sucked in. Watched it all in one day! We loved Broad Church too. I haven't heard of Wallander but now I'm thinking I need to check it out!!

Current mindless binge is Canada's Worst Driver. DH and I laugh the whole time. So different from US reality shows.
