We had to buy a new tree this year because half the bulbs on our old tree decided to stop working, and I love it so much.

I love our skinny fake tree; it fits perfectly into this corner spot that's out of the way! We did fresh tree the 1st two years and then I just can't do it anymore. But I'd like to go back to doing that, maybe when DS3 is 5....

@Sams Mom: mine has finally given up trying to get me to convert. He gave it an earnest effort for the last few years, but he realized that I am not to be broken on the subject of fresh vs fake lol

@Mrs. Carrot: good for you!! I have always been fresh fresh fresh and my DH tried and tried year after year to get me to switch. And I said no.. untillll this year. I can't believe it, I caved. Mostly bc I was able to put it up earlier and i can leave it up longer.
But let me tell you that they lie about it be "easier" than a real tree. There is nothing easier about a fake tree at all!!! It took me hours, yes hours to "fluff" it and make it look decent... with a real one you don't have to do that crap, it looks beautiful naturally!!!! I never really had any issues with a real one, i mean sure there were some lost needles at the end of the season i'd have to sweep and vacuum but trust me that is way easier than fluffing a prickly odd shaped thing into gorgeousness. I was sweating by the end LMAO
So good for you and I love the real tree!!!!

@Ajsmommy: Our fake tree is super easy, but that's just because we stash it, fully assembled and decorated, in a closet in the basement. "Putting up the tree" takes literally 3 minutes.

@lady baltimore: DH suggested we do that!!! How do you do it?? Like literally just carry it downstairs or wherever? Don't some of the decorations fall off...LOL??

@Ajsmommy: My DH's grandmother does this too and she wraps hers with saran wrap before she stashes it to keep the ornaments in place and keep it dust-free.
Part of me wishes we had the space to do this and cut down on the time needed each year. But, then I do really love the unboxing and discovering of ornaments after a year in storage, looking at each one while we place them on the tree. I think I would miss that!

@lindseykaye: I'm thinking i'll remove ornaments bc like you I loveee getting them out, looking at them. and placing them... so i do want to do that every year.. just not the fluffing!! LOL....
so maybe i'll remove ornaments but keep the tree together and fluffed.. good idea about covering it to keep dust off!! thanks

Real tree here too!
@lindseykaye: I love unboxing ornaments too! In our pre-child life we did a lot of traveling and ornaments are my go to souvenir. We do a lot of reminiscing when we decorate the tree.

I love seeing all of your beautiful trees.
I cheat because my mom owns a home decor shop and regularly does 25+ trees per year. So I always have her come over to do mine while the girls and I place ornaments here and there

All you fresh tree people clearly donโt have cats! We did fresh one year and it was a nightmare.

@erinbaderin: I've got 2 fuzzy jerks, a water gun they're first Christmas as kittens fixed "most" of the problems. They're almost 5 and almost 3 now.

@Sams Mom: Every year when we take the tree down we find a flattened down area about 4 feet up matter with cat hair. Our older cat is too fat and lazy, but the little one is irrepressible.

@erinbaderin: both of mine are fat, but Gulliver (orange one) is younger and adventurous (thus the name). So I still had to extract him from the tree last year. This year, the worst of it is him peeling out around the bottom and knocking the bottom strand of lights off or unplugging the tree.

We also are in the fresh tree club. I think going as a family and โpicking the oneโ is my favorite part!
