I have both. DD wouldn't go near the big potty when we first started trying to potty train, but now that's all she uses. she's never used the little potty!

My son likes to pee in the little potty and poop in the big one.

We do both. At home she uses the potty or seat on the big toilet. When we are out we just plonk her on the big toilet with no kid seat.

Xander has only used the big toilet a couple times. He definitely prefers his little potty and being able to put his feet on the ground.

dd started with the little potty bc she was scared of the big potty. once she got that down, she started using the big potty once in awhile. now she uses it exclusively.
