So just the idea of this filled me with rage, and the few snippets I saw were really awful. Can we just please accept that some things are sacred? Yeesh.

@Mamaof2: I watched part of it and wasn't sure if I would watch the rest of it and skip Glee. Well, I watched about 15 minutes and then switched to Glee. I kept noticing how little things were different from the original. The order of the songs, like they didn't play 'My Favorite things' during the bedroom and thunderstorm scene. Then the 'Sixteen going on seventeen' song was played in a field and not in a gazebo.

I watched the original a couple of months ago so it's all fairly fresh in my mind.

Maybe if it's on hulu or netflix, I'll sit down and watch it from the start.

I do like the idea of a live show. They should do more. I would love to see a broadway show that I've never seen before on Live tv. Like Wicked or something. It's just with broadway shows, they always have different cast members so I won't expect someone like Julie Andrews.

ETA: I found an explanation for the out of order songs.

    IT'S NOT THE MOVIE
It's only natural that viewers compare the 2013 TV production to the beloved film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, but this was a different animal. Wisely, the producers resisted any temptation to retain the reordering of songs in the movie. It might have seemed strange to hear "My Favorite Things" sung by Maria and the Mother Abbess early in the show and "The Lonely Goatherd" in the bedroom during the thunderstorm with Maria and the children instead of during a puppet show, but that's how it was in the original Broadway musical. Also, thankfully, songs featuring Max and Elsa that were deleted from the movie were restored, turning the spotlight on Christian Borle and Laura Benanti on "How Can Love Survive?" and "No Way to Stop It." One song added to the motion picture was preserved, so the producers did, indeed, do "Something Good."

Maybe I'll give it another shot.

@dagret: LOL! The scenes look like from the set of Passions. LOL!! I can see that from the 15 minutes I watched.

I expected a better caliber of singing from the cast overall. Carrie did a great job singing, as expected, though.

Overall, it wasn't as bad I thought it would be, but that didn't make it good. =/

@dagret: Ha! That's what my DH said "she must be a singer and NOT an actress"

I watched an hour then went to bed - I liked it well enough but not enough to stay up until 11pm.

@bluestriped bee: LOL I was thinking the sets looked like a bad soap opera.

The 2 hours I watched were just a train wreck. I couldn't handle staying up any later to watch Bill pull out his fangs while singing Edelweiss.

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I really liked it!

I agree that carries acting wasn't great but she was cast for her singing and star power in bringing in viewers. major props to them for even attempting it. You don't see these types of productions anymore and I thought it was a nice change. Plus my goly it was 3 hours live, they must've been exhausted!

The ratings are in and evidently it's the highest ratings in years.

@mediagirl: Haha. I did notice in the 'Sixteen turning seventeen' song with them in the woods, everything looked fake but I noticed the trees looked really good. Like it might be been real trees or something. Haha, I was watching a musical and got fixated on the trees. LOL!!

@leelee: I hope the high ratings mean they'll do more stuff like this! I'd love to see a live televised West Side Story or something. I think it's great for people who don't get to go to the theater very often, or at all.

I liked the overall production and hope they do more live musicals like this! Or televised musicals in general, the live aspect is negligible to me. Can't deny that Carrie was NOT the best choice for Maria though...

I enjoyed it with dh and lo. However... Carrie Underwood can sure not act! Whoa.
