My LO is 3 months old and she goes to bed around 7:30/8:00pm every night. Except after about 45 minutes she wakes up whining and if I give her a paci she goes right back to sleep. She will then wake up again a few more times (usually) between bedtime and 11pm. Then wakes up to eat around 2am and 6am. It's getting old and I'm not understanding why she keeps waking up. I've tried letting her cry for a few minutes but she seems to just get more upset.Any tips on how to break this?

DS has four pacis in his crib right now, because he has the same issue. He has figured out how to find and put the paci in his mouth.

@Bao: I don't really have any advice but my DS did the same thing for what felt like forever. He has grown out of it some and most nights doesn't wake for it or only wakes once. I always just ran over to pop it back in. He just escalated if we tried to let him cry it out and then ended up so worked up that he wouldn't settle. Now he sometimes just fusses a little and goes back to sleep. I hope your LO grows out of it soon!

i let ds cry 10 mins tops. if he doesn't stop, then i put a paci in or reswaddle. now he only uses his paci to soothe. he is 13 wks

@bao it was hard at first but to be honest, he only cried the full 10 a few times before he just learned to soothe back to sleep.

We went through this as well. When LO was about the same age until she could find her own pacifier. It probably lasted until about 6 or 7 months. We typically went a few times (every 20 - 45 minutes between about 7pm and 10pm). After that time she finally was able to fall into a deep enough sleep to not need it.
Now at 15 months, we put 2 pacifiers in her bed every night, most mornings at least one of them is on the floor.

We went through this for ages. It wasn't so bad when DD was sleeping right next to our bed for the first 4 months, b/c then I could just pop her binky back in without needing to get out of bed. It became much more annoying once we transfered her to her own room. When I tried to let her cry for a few minutes, she would just scream and scream until I gave in and replaced her binky. We finally let her full on cry it out recently at 7.5 months. She cried for more than 30 minutes the first time, and she was inconsolable when I wouldn't replace her binky. After the first night of cry it out, she slept through the night completely, and these days she never wakes up more than once or twice per night for her binky. (Often she doesn't wake at all.)
So long story short, CIO worked for us, but we didn't do it until she was 7.5 months old. In the meantime, we just switched off whose turn it was to replace her binky each time she woke up.

My LO went through a similar stage when he was that age. We also gave him 10 minutes to soothe himself back to sleep before going in and giving him the paci back. We realized a few times that he cries in his sleep so if we went into his room too soon, we'd wake him up completely. He's gotten better the last couple months and now he very rarely needs us to go in and help him get back to sleep (meaning he rarely fusses for a full 10 minutes - most times it's a couple minutes at most).

@Bao: It took DD for what seemed like forever to learn to put her paci back in her mouth. Before that, we would just have to go back in there and put it back in her mouth.
One thing that helped is that if she woke up, we would pick her up, put the paci in, and then hold her until she feel asleep. Once she was out, we would gently remove the paci and hold her a little longer before putting her back in the crib. After doing that for a few weeks, she stopped waking for it.
