I fell down the basement stairs carrying LO. We both landed hard. She landed on top of me, but her head whipped back and hit the wooden side part of the stairs pretty hard. I hit my hip and elbow hard, but I'm fine. I am 11 weeks pregnant, so just hoping the baby is ok. I know the baby is small and well insulated at this point. J cried really hard at first, but she's playing now and says she is ok. I'm thinking it's probably fine to skip the doctor (urgent care/ER)...do you agree?

I would get checked out just to be safe but I am a huge (!!!) worry wart. Hope everything is ok.

@78h2o: I probably wouldn't go at this age if she was acting fine (younger, I'd have gone.) Poor girl and poor mama! Hope everyone is fine!

oh my gosh! I hope you are okay. I was in an accident around 12 weeks and my OB said had I not heard the HB with my doppler, they would have had me come in to be safe - but that the baby is still in the pelvic bone at that point and likely just fine. they told me to watch for bleeding or cramping.
I'm paranoid and probably would call the after-hours line for LO!

If it still hurts in a few days, get it checked out. Or if you start bleeding. But otherwise just rest a little!! Hope you're all ok!

i would be more worried about your LO hitting her head. I don't know how hard it was, but if it was a good fall, I would go in.

@MrsHansen82: I'm not sure how hard she hit it. It sounded hard, but she seems fine. I called her doctor once when she hit her head and vomited and they said that as long as she didn't have persistent vomiting and was walking and talking fine, I shouldn't bring her in. So I haven't called her doc, since I expect to hear the same thing. I called urgent care and they don't have a Doppler or ultrasound, so I'd only be going there for LO (which I would totally do, but I think she's ok). So I think it is ER or stay home... I think we will probably stay home. I feel a little crampy, but I think it's more my muscles aching.

I fell down the stairs hard at 21 weeks and already had a scheduled ultrasound that day. I went back in for a check 2 days later. My advice would be to call the advice nurse, but it sounds like you already did. So sorry this happened, how scary.

Ugh how scary! My guess is you are both fine - especially if she rebounded quickly. I would just check on her before you go to bed and see how she is doing in the morning.

So sorry this happened. I had a similar incident of falling down the stairs with DD while pregnant. I think I was about 4-5 months. I was freaking out, ended up going to the hospital because i started feeling contraction like pain. I think they gave me something to stop it and kept me over night. If you feel normal and LO is playing fine, I think it's okay not to go. But I would at least call OB and get their opinion.

Thank you. I woke up to check on J through the night and she was fine. She was her normal self this morning, begging to listen to Frozen and singing along. I am SORE but seem to be ok. Was hoping the doc would want to check me, but I just spoke to a nurse and she said she wasn't worried. I have a scan next week, so I guess I'll have to wait until then. I loaned my Doppler to one of my husband's female friends...I may contact her to see if I can get it back (she had her baby last year).

oh that must have been so scary. glad LO is feeling better, and that besides the soreness you are okay. makes me feel better that the nurse wasn't concerned (although it would have been more comforting to have an ultrasound to confirm everything!). doesn't sound like you need to do an ultrasound right now, but if you feel like you need one for your peace of mind, you could probably push for one.
