So I know that LO has a strong resemblance to DH but after enduring an entire holidays worth of 20 new relatives telling me LO looks NOTHING like me I have had it! I never knew this would bother me so much but seriously I carried him for nine months, was in labor for two and a half days and ultimately had a c section that I still haven't healed from you people can't even throw me a small bone and tell me he has my hair color or SOMETHING? This bother anyone else? It drives me crazy!

I got this all the time. Realistically, she doesn't look like me. She's her daddy's mini-me.
It gets less annoying with time.

It doesn't bother me YET, but I hear the same thing all the time. Though people phrase it as "she looks so much like her dad" rather than nothing like me.

@tillma: DD is a total daddy face and I used to joke that if I wasn't there giving birth to her I'd never know she was mine! It does get easier with time though. She's 20 months now and it' doesn't bother me nearly as much

Both LOs look like DH and it doesn't bother me anymore.

Yeah I got it all week from a variety of family members.. She looks just like DH, and I know that, but does everyone have to point out how little she looks like me?

If your LO is still tiny, you might be surprised at how his features change over time. Two of my friends are very fair-skinned and light-haired, and are married to olive-skinned, dark-haired men. When their babies were born, they looked NOTHING like their mommas and very much like their daddies. Now that the babies are a year or two old, though, you can definitely see the mix of features between mom and dad in each of them, even though both babies have more of their dads' coloring. So there is hope that your LO may come to resemble you a bit more!

LO looks like a mini daddy, but she has my dark eyes. Her lips are a little fuller than his (from me) and her nose looks more like mine than his. But, everyone who sees her says that she is her daddy as a girl. Luckily, I think he is adorable, so it's okay.

My usual response is, "All of the work. None of the credit." It gets annoying but I know people mean well.

DS looked just like his dad when he was a baby. Now, at 6 years old, he looks just like me. So, things can definitely change!

Oh my, I've posted about this before on another thread, but my in-laws did this all the time, especially when LO was new and TOTALLY looked like her dad, but they're always linking her features to someone in their family.
For instance: DH has brown eyes, as does his entire immediate family and every family member I've met. LO has amazing blue eyes. My inlaws were commenting that she must get them from my MIL's father's dead brother who they *think* had blue eyes....
And I want to scream "I HAVE BLUE EYES!!"

@Sapphiresun: That's what it's like with DH's family. Granted, LO does look a lot like DH, but she looks a lot like me too. All of the features they comment on clearly come from me, but they would never acknowledge it.

C is a pretty good mix of the best parts of us, especially when you compare him to our baby pictures. Sooooo many people tell me how much he looks like my husband- most frequently my students that I have spent a year with when they go on to an 8-week externship at my husband's practice. It doesn't really bother me, I see a lot of myself in him.

Aghhhhhhh I feel your pain. I also posted about this once. My in laws were obsessssssssed with telling me how much LO looked like their family blah blah blah. I think my DH must have told his family to lay off because their comments have simmered down. @Sapphiresun: I swear I think about this now and then when I am at my in laws! You replied to my post with this gem from your in laws. Gah!@rahlyrah: stealing this!

What irks me is MIL telling me how much DD looks like DH, but then goes on to say she is also so much like SIL#1 and SIL#2. I get it, DH has all dominant genes and I've got a recessive, but come on.... She does have some of my traits! It makes me overcompensate a bit by telling her that DD looks like my Mom's Dad (which she does... A tiny bit... When she occasionally makes this one, particular face!)

My son looks just like me but has dark hair and a darker complexion and because of his coloring, people always say he looks like DH.

@Ocean girl: My MOM will do this, comparing my son's personality to my brothers. It drives me so crazy! We're ALL siblings, so maybe he got some of these traits from the person who made him...me!

If you look at my LO and my husband side by side, they look NOTHING alike! But everyone says they're twins. I just usually go along with it, and say "Yep, I got no credit." but my child is obviously blonde haired and blue eyed - he looks like my dad more than anybody!

Our LO doesn't really look like either of us. So we constantly get "who does she look like?" Not sure what is worse...

I get the - "oh she looks just like your husband" thing a lot but I have been told that she has some of my features - and I can see it a lot too, like nose, eye shape, etc. I have dark hair and brown eyes while she has strawberry blond hair and blue eyes so people just say what they want a lot without even thinking. Ugh!

@Sapphiresun: That happens to me, too. It's frustrating because he actually looks just like me at that age.
Whenever someone says LO looks a ton like my husband, I just say something like "I should hope so, or I would have some serious explaining to do." It stops a lot of commenters.

@grizz: lol. Noooo! I don't want her to have my nose!! Is that bad?? I have the worst nose in my family so I'm not-so-secretly hoping she gets either my mom's or MIl's nose, both of which I like.
Seriously, my nose is so bad if I'd ever had an extra 10k laying around and weren't afraid, I'd have had it fixed by now.
