H was sitting on the floor (we have hardwood, with a rug on it, and then a comforter/blanket thing laid out for her to roll around on and play)...She was doing so well and then suddenly jerked back and I couldn't catch her in time and she hit her head:(. I feel awful!
Of course the Ped is closed...She cried for a minute (like lost her breath cry!) and was then okay but now is being fussy. Should I be worried? What do I watch for to know if anything is wrong?

Aw, I have no advice but I hope H is ok! Hopefully the fall just startled her.

I wouldn't worry. I promise as she becomes more mobile she's gonna bump her head more often until she gets the hang of things.

Aw, poor baby, poor Mama! When E fell off the bed I was told to watch for pupils being different sizes or eyes crossed and/or nausea. He fell from a few feet up and he was fine!
ETA: I wouldn't stress. She's almost certainly fine. It's always worse for the mamas!

Elliot bumps his head all the time. I was just telling DH last night that I hate it!!! But idk how to prevent it. He crawls or rolls over to the coffee table and hits his head on the table leg, on the kitchen floor.... Everywhere. I freak out every single time, it freaks me out and I hate it!

@PrincessBaby: if it makes you feel any better, my LO fell out of her cot other day and apart from a fright for both of us she was just fine! As my DH says, babies bounce and are incredibly resilient although it still sux to see them fall or tip over

I wouldn't worry! My peds emerg nurse friend told me that as long as they don't fall from higher than their height they are fine. S fell off the couch twice today goofing around, hit the back of his head once and the front once, and he is totally fine!
Just to add: S can climb onto the couch by himself, so I didn't put him up there to fall off ... he climbs up to push the throw pillows off to play with and fell when I was doing dishes ... I promise I am not neglectful.

LO is doing this all the time now as she's crawling and pulling herself up on the furniture. We have tile floors too so it's awful when she hits her head, but she's been fine every time. She screams the most gut wrenching screams when it happens, but as long as she is consolable and continues acting like herself (making eye contact, smiling,playing as normal), she's fine.
It is absolutely awful and I can't wait until she's past this stage but short of wrapping her in bubble wrap, there's not much we can do to prevent these things from happening.

i agree that she is probably fine, LO has bumped his head a bunch of times and I always feel bad! It happens a lot when I'm trying to take a picture of him, which makes me feel even worse!

I'm sure she's fine!! I hit Sadie's head on a door frame pretty hard when she was only a couple weeks old. I know it's terrifying, but they're not as breakable as they seem!!

Aww, the first "fall" (even if its just a little fall backwards) is always the worst. That said, I'm sure she is fine. We've been to the ped after a fall in her highchair (long story, she managed to tip it over backwards and went flying onto straight up hardwood floors) and talked to him after a fall off the bed (now I just sound like a terrible parent!! haha), and both times the pedi office said that crying right after is a good sign. If she starts acting really lethargic and out of it, you might call....but seriously, I'm sure she is fine!!

Falls are THE WORST!! In always fearing she has internal bleeding but then I remember every other 100 times she has hit her head and is a-okay

I figure if they can be distracted by toys or just being comforted then they are most likely fine. LO has bonked her head lots and never had any issues.

Thanks so much everyone:). I called the Ped on call and they just told me to watch for extreme lethargy or her not eating...She's been fine though so I am sure it just scared us both!

@PrincessBaby: glad she seems ok.
One tip I leaned if they are crying and can't breath (you know what I mean?) that if you blow in their face it will help them inhale and breath.

DS fell off the bed a few weeks ago and I thought I was going to die! He freaked out-cried for a few minutes then was fine after that. Bless her little heart. I bet she'll be fine!

oh no, hope Miss H feels better! P has hit his head multiple times (damnn crusing baby!) and i freak out everytime, but he's fine. i was always rold by the drs to watch for them being lethargic, pupils dilated, behavior off and nausea. p actually did hit his head and then started to throw up hours later and was rushed to the ER bc we thought he had a head injury but it turned out to be a virus that was time badly with his injury! hang in there momma!

Poor girl! My LO is right at the same stage as yours (sitting up but shaky) and seems to always fall away from the cushy pillow I put behind her to stop her from hurting herself.
I am glad H is ok!

Sadly this is just the beginning. Los legs are all bruised now that she can walk and run into things.
