I'm so jealous that you pumped 8 oz! You did good.

The nurse at our hospital told me that babies will drink more quickly from a bottle, even a slow flow, because it's less effort to drink from than the breast. It's one of the reasons people sometimes fear nipple confusion, because the baby could become used to the faster/easier flow and become frustrated having to work harder at the breast. I think nipple confusion isn't a worry if baby has breastfeed down, though- totally not trying to add stress, my baby had an occasional bottle earlier than that (I had to supplement initially) and all is fine.

Also, keep in mind that his tummy is tiny right now, like the size of a walnut. 1.5oz in a feeding sounds fine that young.

@MamaMoose: I agree, my Lactation Consultant told me to not start pumping until my LO was 3 weeks old to make sure my supply had time to regulate.

@coacheswife123: Awesome that your LO took to the bottle so well. I always think its so sweet to watch my DH feed my LO.

@coacheswife123: that's what I did at first. I would pump twice a day. Once in the morning (enough for one full feeding for DH to give that night) and then I would pump again in the evening while he gave the bottle and again I would only pump enough for one feeding and that would go in my freezer stash (or in the fridge if I knew I would be away from baby sometime the next day).
