Do you let your LO stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve, or do you put them to bed like normal?
We usually aren't home, so as far as I can remember our LOs have always stayed up with everyone until midnight. Then, back home we go and they fall right to sleep on the drive and everyone enjoys a sleep in day the day after.

Too much? But no way. That would not be fun for anyone. Normal time or maybe half an hour late. We haven't gone to a NYE party since before inwas pregnant.

I consider myself to be a pretty-to-very laid back parent but no way. LO doesn't get cranky staying up late and wouldn't meltdown but she also won't sleep in and needs more than 6 hours of sleep. Dealing with a preschooler on 6 hours of sleep the next day is a big nope for me!

Nope. She's only 2 so I think it will be quite awhile before we'd let her.

No definitely not. When she was like 9 months she woke up right before midnight and so we "celebrated " together but she had no idea, haha. She's still too young (2.5) to even get the concept, anyway, like we're still explaining the differences in seasons so there's no way she'd understand what the differences in years are

This is the first year I'm conflicted. She usually stays up but this year I have to figure out how to get back on track for school after. More than likely she will be up celebrating with everyone.

DS has starting at 18 months. DD hasn't, but last NYE she woke up fifteen minutes to midnight so she got to ring it in with us. But... this is the first time in three years that it's falling on a weekend, which means no day care and no nap for DS. I don't think he'll be able to stay up so late this year.

I don't think she'd stay up til midnight even if we wanted her to...she'd probably crash on the couch. We'll let her stay up a little later but definitely nowhere near midnight.

Heck no. Mine won't know the difference it's another day. I won't likely make it beyond 10pm!

Nope! DD1 does not do well... She typically will not just sleep in and still do her 10 hours.

No way! When they are older they can. But at almost 4 y/o and 7 m/o they don't even grasp what is going on.

@Boogs: we use the netflix fake countdown for kids. she loves it and thinks its really midnight

We have no plans to go anywhere this year, but I wouldn't be opposed to going somewhere and letting LO stay up.

No way! I feel cranky being up that late! I think we've celebrated New York New Years twice (9 pm) and that's the latest I'd push it for a long while!

No way. DS is 3.5 and won't sleep later if he is up later. We've been so busy this week he has been going to bed early.
I'm hoping I can make it to midnight.

We're planning to be home from our celebrations by 2000 and have the kids in bed shortly after (it's a party for local families so we'll start early and finish early)

Normal time in the past but she is almost six so I might let her try this year. We are on a trip right now so we would be at a decent but late hour in our home time zone. It might be ok just this once..

No, DD is 3.5 and DS is almost 2. Even if I wanted to I could keep them up that late and the next day (or days) would be awful.
We usually toast at Greenwich Mean time anyway.
This year we're going to be on a Disney cruise and I'm hoping they'll have an early countdown.

No, we'll celebrate (2y + 4y old) with the other families on our private road at 7pm and then it's bedtime after that. So they'll be up a little late but not much. They probably would sleep in a little but they'd be way too tired to make it to midnight.

I have never attempted it so I have no idea what would happen if he stayed up to midnight...but I don't even want to stay up until midnight!
It might be different if we hosted some large event in our home, but we purposely do not so that we can leave and go to bed.

That wouldn't even work if we wanted to. He would just fall asleep at some point around 8. Haha. In the future we may do it! Far in the future like when he's in elementary school haha!
