At 14 months, my LO has started throwing her pacifiers and blankie out of her crib when she wakes up. Tonight she did it after her bedtime routine. DH and I went in a few times to read her more stories and snuggle with her, but each time we left, she threw the gang overboard. This has been going on for almost 2 hours now. I just walked in and handed her all of her things without making eye contact, but she's standing in her crib, screaming. Any advice?

DS does the same thing, but only when he wakes up. I would guess she is doing this because she doesn't want to go to sleep. Could you put the paci in her mouth, lay her down, put her lovey where she likes it and then walk out? That has helped me in the past, because it has reminded DS that he was tired.

My LO is only 2 months so take my advice with a grain of salt, but what do you think she'll do if you just don't give them back after she throws them out? Will she eventually calm down/wear herself out and go to sleep without them, or do they absolutely need to be in there for her to fall asleep?

@MamaBehr: i tried putting the paci in her mouth and laying her down but right after i walked out, she stood up and chucked everything! that used to work...before tonight
@wonderstruck: i ended up letting her scream for 5 minutes or so, and i finally caved and went in. i sat with her for a minute while she calmed down and put her into her crib. she must have been exhausted bc she went to sleep! next challenge: weaning off the paci. oh boy!

@betsyboop: Good luck! Glad she finally went to sleep =) I'm about to move my LO from his Rock n Sleeper to the crib...I'm not anticipating it going well, lol.

@betsyboop I remember a few nights when DS and DD would do that, and all they needed was me or DH in the room. Did she sleep through the night? It makes me think there might be something else going on, like teeth or something.

@betsyboop: did she have a late nap or was her bedtime earlier than normal? We had this same problem on Saturday night. She had a late nap, though and didn't want to go to sleep at her normal time. There was screaming and the stuffed dog kept getting dumped out of the crib. It took us 2 hours to get her to sleep. Uggghhh.

@MamaBehr: She slept through the night - well, she woke up a few times but went back to sleep on her own. I'm wondering if her teeth are bothering her, though she's never been bothered by new teeth before. I know at least two are coming in, and she did have a fever the other day. Who knows?!
@mediagirl: Her nap yesterday was a bit longer than normal but she went down earlier so she woke up at the same time she usually does. At this age, taking 2 hours to get LO to go to sleep reminds me of the newborn days...and not in a good way!
