I'm a female Logan, and I love my name. But it wasn't a super popular name for either gender when I was a kid. I was probably out of elementary before it cracked the top 100. I don't love Lola as a NN, but I'm probably biased since I never had a NN

I knew a girl Logan growing up and thought it was a great name. I don't love Lola (would probably just use Lo), but no real reason why. Go for it!

Love the name Logan for a girl. I don't know anyone with that name but it's so appealing.

I like both names individually but I don’t think Lola works well as a nickname for Logan

I like Logan for a girl and I know a woman with that name. She wears it beautifully.
I would say wait on the NN. If Lola fits, great, if not just go with Logan.
Maybe a more feminine MN? Logan Marie?

I would assume boy if I read the name Logan from a class roster, but once I found out she was a girl, I wouldn't find it strange, if that makes sense. Unisex names are in right now, so she'll be in good company with lots of classmates with names like Taylor/Elliott/Reese/Morgan/Quinn.....I like the name a lot; however, I don't really think Lola makes a lot of sense as a nickname for Logan (Lolo might).
If it's Lola that you really love, maybe a better approach is to look at names where that is is a really logical nickname, or ways to use Lola as a middle name?

I like Logan, I like Lola, but I don't see them as a natural formal and nickname pair.

@PinkElephant: DD1 is Elliott so we clearly have an affinity for unisex names
@elljay: I've actually never met or heard of a female Logan in real life so it's great to hear of real people with that name. :-).

I like the name Logan in general, but it's still too much of a boy name to me. I've never met a female Logan so it hasn't crossed into unisex territory for me yet. But if you're cool with potential mixups, it's a great name.

@808love: hehe good advice I was not thinking about meanings/connotations (clearly, haha).
@Meowkers: Love the name Elliott, and that it has possibilities for feminine nicknames. Knowing that helps me understand what you're trying to do with Logan. Wonder if you could get to a feminine NN through a middle name instead?

Logan is a boy name to me; however, for a girl it reminds me of how Blake, James, and Maxwell are girl names now too. Love LOLA!!

I like Logan for a girl but if you are going to call her Lola why not just name her Lola? (I cant see how Lola works as a NN for Logan)

@Mamaof2: because my husband does not feel that it is a stand alone name. We're not tied to Lola in any way. We're more considering Logan and just feeling out potential nicknames.

I like Logan for a girl. I have a female friend named Logan and it suits her well. I do think that if someone just sees the name in print their first assumption will be male, but since you have a female Elliot I assume you're cool with that. That being said, I really don't like Lola. All I think when hear that name is "she was a showgirl".

I voted other because I think Logan for a girl is cute but I don't see Lola as a nickname for it. They don't sound enough a like and both are two syllables anyway so it's not even shorter.
I also like Lola But I just don't see it as a nickname for Lola.

I love the name, but since it's my son's name, it's a boy name to me. I also think it's a standalone name. Our oldest son sometimes calls him Lo or Lolo, but we usually only call him Logan.

I don't understand naming your daughter Logan and knowing you're going to nickname her Lola and call her by that. Why not just call her Lola then?

@alphagam84: we're not planning on calling her Lola. But I will only consider names with possible nicknames so in choosing a name I want to consider nicknames and make sure I like them.

@Meowkers: I've known one female Logan and her family called her "Logie" as a pet name.
ETA: I don't think Lola works as a nn for Logan, but plenty of people have nns that don't necessarily relate to their name.

I prefer it as a boys name and don't think Lola makes sense as a nickname for it. I would just name her Lola and leave it at that! I just don't like boys names for girls in general though.
