So I’m clearly in vacation planning mode, I have been pricing out beachy all inclusives and I’m finding that for a family of 5 it’s hard to find ones that are reasonably priced and would still give us enough sleeping space. My youngest still really needs a room or closet with a door in to sleep.

My kids would be 7, 5 and 2 when we took this trip, and DD7 has been obsessed with London for a while and frequently talks about visiting when she’s older. I studied abroad there in college for 6 months so am super comfortable with the Tube and have lots of ideas of places I’d love to show them. But is this insane? Airfare isn’t that much more expensive than going somewhere tropical, and we’re on the east coast so while a long plane ride it’s still non stop and shorter than the drive to our in-laws we take every other month. . I’m finding super reasonable apartment rentals or suite hotels, which would be great so we could eat some meals there since my kids are happy with cream cheese sandwiches for most meals! I feel like lots of people would say it’s a “waste” since my youngest definitely won’t remember anything, so maybe we should wait a few years? Anyone else done a bigger trip and had it be a success?
