My daughter is VERY pale. She burns just looking at the sun (and unfortunately did not get my ability to tan). I have one rash guard for her for the summer but it is short sleeve. Should I invest in a long sleeve one since we'll be out in the sun more this year? Are long sleeve rash guards hard to get on/off sticky/sweaty/wet bodies?

I like long sleeved rash guards. I haven't found them to be too tight, if anything you could always size up so it's big on her.

I vote for yes, long sleeve. Not too bad to get on and off, and totally worth it. I don't really get short sleeved ones- if you're having to put sunscreen on arms, may as well do the whole thing.

We had a long sleeve one last year and she wouldn't keep it on because it was so hot for her. I had it a size up and it was a pain to get off. With the length of your summer if you wanted long I would invest in a swimzip!

For your LO, I suggest a long sleeved one.

I much prefer the long-sleeve for the extra sun protection. Plus every extra inch you don't have to wrestle to put sunscreen on is priceless in my book! I would never say they're "easy" to get on/off when wet but I tend to size up and haven't really had any problems.

@lawbee11: @ValentineMommy: @LulaBee: @hilsy85: have you all had your kids in really hot temps in long sleeve rash guards? It gets HOT here - 90's during the summer and especially on the beach. I'm worried about her getting too hot like @regberadaisy: mentioned...my girl runs hot.
I'm trying to decide between elbow level or LS now...

I got a long-sleeved white one from Hanna Andersson. We also have one from Children's Place. When they're wet, it's more cold than hot...

@mediagirl: Unless she's not going to be going in the water it should be fine. Our temps are in the upper 90s all summer and we haven't had an issue with overheating because the water cools her off.

DS is very fair skinned and we went with the long sleeve rash guard. I think we bought his at Target!

I do long sleeve on my LO, even on the beach, and he doesn't run hot. I did keep a blow up pool under the shade he could sit in and help cool off if needed.

@mediagirl: yeah...M wouldn't keep hers on in 80 weather while playing in the water. She runs HOT like daddy! She sleeps with no blankets in our frigid north winters! We keep our house low too because we're cheap.
Haha maybe I should sell my ls on here because dd2 runs hot too so the ls is useless to me if they won't keep it on. She wore it once for like 20 minutes. Dd1 doesn't fight sunscreen....

@mediagirl: I used a LS rash guard on my daughter last May in south Florida, and plan on doing the same when we visit in a few weeks. I really only use the rash guard at the beach- if we are at pool near condo it's more shaded and I'll let her wear a regular bathing suit. She didn't overheat last year, but we got a striped one- nothing too dark.
