One of my four-year-old girls was introduced to this activity at preschool. She got one for Christmas from grandma and I'd say she can definitely work on the more simple parts of making the potholder, but needs a lot of assistance when it gets tricky. I don't know if that's helpful! She also gets frustrated really easily, which makes the whole activity a definite grind at this age...

I agree that they can do some of it earlier but to really do it on their own 6 may even be optimistic, depends on the kid. I remember my daughter doing one about age 5, but the bands kept falling off the hooks around the edges and she got frustrated. I finished it because I like that sort of thing
Some kits may be better than others at keeping the loops on, maybe

My DD is 6 and got a loom kit for Christmas. She really likes it but still needs some help.
