Lunar New Year is Friday, January 31 this year. Although LO won't be in daycare that day I'll like to bring some stuff in for a Chinese New Year celebration the following week.

Any fellow Asian moms done something similar?   I'm open to giving each child a "lai  see"  (red envelope) with $2 in it. But would parents feel weird about their child handling money? I can ask her teacher to hand it out then promptly put it in their cubbies? If they were older I've also done chocolate coins in the past for older kids. The other option is we'll be in NYC celebrating with my family so I can pick up a small holiday and age appropriate knick knack for them
I'm thinking clementines and oranges as a snack. And gifting a age appropriate book to the class that talks about Chinese New Year so the teacher can read it at story time.
Possibly picking up some decorations too for around the class. And maybe printing out some ideas for arts & crafts.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

For parents that aren't Asian, would you have a problem if your child's daycare class did something similar?
