    Such a cool idea! I love that you're sharing your culture with them. I'd love to see DS come home with something like that

    @mamabear57: I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but could you get me some?!?!! Those are adorable and I know we won't have anything cute like that around here. LO is a 1/4 Chinese, but I really want her to celebrate her heritage.

    @Mrs. High Heels: @BoogieBea: @Mrs. Chocolate: @locavore_mama:

    Did you guys decide if you are doing stuff for your LO's classes, and if so, what?

    I have 60 red envelopes and some stickers, but the stickers I ordered ended up being so tiny that it's sad. I need ideas for what else to put in the red envelope. They are not allowed to have candy in school. I don't think I can pull off folding orgami for that many kids (I am passing them out during a Heritage Week event which gathers four classrooms together). I am tag teaming with another mom who will pass out a zodiac booklet. And we will do a short presentation for the children.

    Anyone else passing out red envelopes to kids stuff with non-monetary items?

    ETA: my event is on Friday!

    @T-Mom: I'm doing it next week! I'm bringing in cuties/clementines for morning snack, a LNY book for story time and sticking a red envelope in their cubbies. I'm planning to look for some kitschy stuff when we're in Chinatown.

    If it was next week I would pick you up something from the city!

    @locavore_mama: Aw thanks that's so sweet of you. Your plan sounds awesome.

    I did bring an awesome book in today for my DD's class that talks about the different ways in which we celebrate the holiday. And next week I will be volunteering in the classroom with a paper lantern craft. I am feeling like the LNY evangelist at her school, haha (which I never have before).

    I'm wondering if I can find some small "treasure" at Michael's to stuff in the envelope just to make it more full.

    @locavore_mama: Maybe I can pack a tiny bit of goldfish crackers in a ziploc snack bag, stuff it in the red envelope, and call it a day. You know, like eating fish, but in cracker form. Lame?
