I want to get my 3.5yo nephew a set of the giant cardboard blocks from Melissa and Doug for Christmas. I was thinking they'd be perfect because my godsons played with theirs well into grade school, but now I'm overthinking it and wondering if they're too babyish?

My LO's school has them at school, and all of the kids play with them. The older kids (4-6) like to build forts.

Yeah go for it. My sister and I also had a similar set we played with forever. I have a set that we picked up on Buy Nothing when I was pregnant, we're going to give it to LO for Christmas when she'll be almost 9 months. I hope she'll use them for years and years. Only consideration could be checking with his parents first since they take up a ton of space, and they might not have anywhere to put them.

@PawPrints: Yeah I was thinking about that. He and his Dad just downsized to an apartment so I'm hoping it's ok. Maybe I'll gift them inside a storage container. I'm hoping their need for indoor activities that use up some of his energy outweighs the size issue.
