If you had multiple registries, did you mark an item as purchased off of one registry if you saw it was purchased on another?
I have done that on some items already, but tempted to leave them on some other bigger ticket items so I can exchange or return for credit "just in case." We don't want to get a whole bunch of clothes or useless gifts, but should I be honest and mark what has already been purchased so we don't get too many duplicates at our showers? What did you do?

I've been going back and forth between registries every day, managing the inventory! We have an Amazon and a BRU and the shower is next weekend, so stuff is starting to get snapped up. I didn't repeat anything between the 2 registries but for things I purchased myself on our BRU registry (after finding them on clearance at other places), I left them on and marked purchased (instead of deleting altogether) so that it's easier to return if I get multiples. I wouldn't leave an item on if another person has purchased it because it can be awkward to get multiple items at showers (how do you react to the second one?) and I'd rather just have the stuff we need in the first place, with no return/exchange hassle.

I also registered for different things at BBB and Amazon, but I agree: the danger is that if you're opening things in front of everyone, you'll get two of the same thing, and that's awkward! So if you can manage it, and mark things as purchased, it may make it better for you at the shower. Plus, then hopefully more of the other stuff will get purchased!

One of the things is the car-seat though. BRU & Amazon offered similar, but different colors, so I've registered for both. The one on Amazon has been purchased so I'm wondering if I should mark as purchased on the BRU. They don't carry it in-store either so I can physically see it first-hand.
Similar situation with the tummy-time mat, but I think I will just mark them both as purchased on BRU.

I didn't register for duplicates. Its a pain to return things, and even without registering for duplicates you'll still get some. Is mark that you already have it. The less you have to return, the better.
And if you get useless clothes instead.... You can always return those.

@shopaholic: I would mark the BRU car seat as purchased since the Amazon one would be a bigger pain to return and you know you're getting it. If the colors are similar, you won't notice the difference once baby is here--I think those are the details that only pregos think about! Once our kids are here I'll be lucky if my socks match.

@artbee: @tororojo: You ladies are right. I've been going back and forth looking at the stock photos and they aren't THAT different. Marking it purchased on BRU. Preggos definitely have A LOT more time and energy to obsess over little #firstworldproblems than new mommies!

I registered at buy buy baby in store first. We don't have a bb where I live, but it is in my hometown and I knew a lot of people would go there for gifts. Then, I did my registry online at BRU and price compared the two and whatever was less expensive I kept on the cheaper store and I was able (IMO) to find a better selection of overall items at BBB. I did my bedding from pottery barn kids.
