@Adira: I don't understand. That is still a choice!
Weather you take all of it or part of it... or maybe supplement it with some vacation time to make it longer.I guess I'm lucky I'm in California and there is just so many combinations for maternity leave. We are still behind most of the world though it seems.

@Raindrop: At my company, you are entitled to just your 12 weeks of FMLA. Sure, you can come back sooner, but you can't stay out longer if you want! So there's a lack of choice there. Also, I'd guess the majority of families can't really afford to stay out on maternity leave for as long as they'd like, so again, no choice.
