I'm flying this morning and I noticed a serious increase in people wearing masks and latex/nitrile gloves. Is this just flu season or an Ebola reaction?

Be careful not to cough too loudly. In all seriousness someone may call you out! A man was coughing on the train, and people were staring at him extra crazy than what you normally get in the mornings. I wonder if it's ebola scare. Especially since they transferred the nurse from Dallas to my neck of the woods. Smh...

I flew to Mexico during the swine flu panic of '09 and people were craaaaazy with the masks and gloves. Although that is an airborne (more or less) illness, so I can see wanting to be extra cautious, more so than with Ebola. They had people in hazmat suits at the Cancun airport taking temps before we could go home.

Hey it's probably for Ebola but it might help them not catch a cold on the plane!!
Taking the kids on a plane tomorrow and I would be lying if I didn't say I have moments of "Ebola! Enterorovirus!" Ado I'm gonna be extra vigilant about hand washing and not touching faces, but I'm really just worried we will catch colds and ruin our vacation.

Lol people are nuts. But then again I'm hard to scare off. We went to Mexico during the 09 swine flu panic on the swine flu special! Extra discount on our resort and if we got swine flu within 30 days of our return we got 3 free week long stays at the resort to use at our leisure!

I traveled to From Cancun to PDX via Denver Monday and did not notice anything. Sadly, I did get sick on the plane, I've had a sore throat for 3 days boo.

Soooo I'm flying on Sunday and I've def considered wearing a mask... you guys are making me feel crazy! I figured it was an easy way to put the burden on avoiding infection (thinking cold or flu) more on my own shoulders.

@Mrs. Tiger: Even after the crazy pants comment...I might totally consider wearing a mask on a plane during flu season. I think they make super-cute kid-sized masks as well. I just think masks and gloves in an airport is seriously misguided!

I would do it! i get an illness literally every time i fly. I went to ATL two weeks ago for a quick weekend work thing and was sick the rest of the week (respiratory)
