It doesn't have to be in the master to me, but there needs to be a decent sized soaking tub in the house for me. I take at least a couple baths per month - higher in pregnancy!

We only have a master shower (nice and big) however, I told DH that a big master tub is a must for our next house. But I'm a nightly bath taker, its my time to relax and being pregnant in DD's tub (our main bath) is not that relaxing to me.

We will be moving into my dads house (and him moving out) in a couple of years. The thing I daydream about the most is the huge master bathroom with the huge jacuzzi tub. Ahh. We don't have one (just a small tub/shower) and I want one so bad. I take a lot of baths for relaxation. I'm glad our futur home has one...but if we found a house we seriously loved and the only downside was that there was no big tub, I would be fine with it.

I have learned a couple things. First, baths are great when pregnant. Two, most people don't use there master tub at all.

If we ever have the opportunity to build our own home (or need to remodel a master bathroom) I definitely think the tub will be nixed. I would love to have a really awesome "family" bathroom with a deep tub. Growing up I took baths for a long time, but some kids switch to showers once they can be trusted to wash themselves properly. I wonder how many years our tubs will get used by kids.

I love out tub. It is huge. But we also have a massive shower with dual shower heads. If we could only have the tub or shower be massive, I'd choose shower since it's used so much more. But I would definitely miss my tub!

I think there should be a tub somewhere in the house (saying this because we currently only have one full bath)

But...neither DH or I take baths. However, a standard shower would be awful for DH because he's a larger guy. So it would be nice to either have a tub with a shower in it, or a larger really nice shower.

Our master tub get used daily, but only because right now, it's easier than our guest shower/tub combo. LO takes a bath in it every night. If it weren't for us using it for him (and we could easily use the guest bath for him), we used it maybe twice in the 5 years we've lived in our house. It's an incredible waste of space.

I also thought baths were a no-no when pregnant? Because you can't regulate your body temperature in a bath like you can in a shower?

We only have one full bathroom, so I share the bath with Sadie. I would LOVE to be able to get a bath without moving toys and bottles and slip mats. A master bath with tub is on our must-have list for a future house.

I hate baths. It would be a giant waste of space in my bathroom. As long as there's one in the "kids" bathroom, I'm happy without one. In fact, the house we bought last year doesn't have one. Give me a nice stand up shower.

Our master bath has a tub and we use it almost every night to bathe the LOs. (We don't use the tub in our 2nd full bath unless we have guests). We have lived in this apartment more than 6 months and I still haven't had a bath myself.

I don't have a fancy bathtub (just a shower tub) but I still use it at least once a month...probably more than that. When I am pregnant it is at least 3-4 times per week. That said, it would be a huge factor for me when buying. If the house was perfect but didn't have one, I would want to at least know adding one was a possibility down the road.

We have a spacious shower in our master bathroom, and we prefer it that way. When we need to, we use the jetted tub in LO's bathroom which is right next to our bedroom. We've probably used it 5 times in the last 6 months we've had our house.

I have a regular bath tub and don't even use it for bath. I have never taken bath! I wanted to so many times when I was pregnant but never got around to it so it must not be important at all lol!

@2PeasinaPod: You just have to make sure you don't get too hot. So actual hot tubs are a big no-no, but moderately warm baths are fine.

I have lived in my house almost 3 years and the master tub has never been used. But, I wouldn't buy a house without one because of the resale value. I think it also depends what type of neighborhood your house is in. I'm in a suburb type area so a master tub is expected. If I lived in the city with older homes, it probably wouldn't be expected as much.

I don't remember the last time I used it, however it's where LO takes her baths.

We were told that bathrooms, especially the master, and kitchens sell houses. So when we built our house, we upgraded our tub to a jet spa thingy and upgraded the tile around it, as well as upgrading the granite and cabinets in master and all bathrooms.

With that being said, a coworker built a house and only has a shower in the master. I thought this was strange but they are shower people, so I definitely think there must still be a market for homes without tubs in the master...

@lamariniere: When my sister studied abroad in Vienna, she lived with a family with one bathroom and there was only a tub. We stayed with her for a few days and it drove me crazy to sit in the tub and use the shower head arm to rinse off. Her host dad took a bath every night!!

Love the big soaker tub in my master bedroom; it's my guilty pleasure to soak in it for a couple of hours. Have used it a ton while pregnant. We also have a standalone shower in the master, too, but I dream of having a double shower with multiple spray heads. Not sure what I'd do if I had to choose between them. Soaker tubs with small standalone showers are much more common in our area than big walk-in showers.

Between DH and I, our master tub is used at least once every other week if not more! I wouldn't buy a house without one.

Our master bathroom is the only one with a tub, which means we have to do the kids' baths in our master. I wish the tub was in a different bathroom instead!
