I think it's crazy to buy baby furniture actually, so i'm all for the craigslist dresser. Buying a changing table to me is silly because you can put a changing pad on a dresser that LO can use well into teenage-hood. The only baby furniture i'm buying is a crib. LO will have a grown up dresser & nothing themey. It's a smart way to save yourself from having to change their room every 3 years. Once LO can go into a toddler bed, they'll go to a twin size bed.

DD's furniture did not match and I am fine with that, we did keep them in the same color family (various shades of brown). We bought the crib but her dresser and big girl bed were re-purposed from when DH was single.

As for having a mirror on the dresser, ours does and I found it a great thing because DD could look at herself while I changed her when little. Now that she is a toddler it isn't so nice because she's discovered that she can shake it plus she likes to "help" whenever she gets ahold of a wipe so it is pretty much a blurry mess.

I bought baby furniture, however the dresser is one that will transition into her "big girl" dresser, it's not a changing table/ect. We did this on purpose, if baby #2 is here, we will leave it wtih the set and she will get ours and we will upgrade

We don't exactly match either. Just think that your LO can use it forever instead of just a couple years when it is outgrown. Definitely not worth the extra $$ just because the words baby and nursery are associated with it!

This is what we're doing. We're getting a white crib, and if it's a boy I want to try to find a nice midcentury dresser and if it's a girl, a French provincial that we can paint with yellow and white stripes Yes, I have all sorts of plans in my head. Anyway I figured with the white crib I don't have to worry about matching so much, and I despise buying new furniture so I buy all my case goods on Craigslist anyway. It's so much more satisfying!
