I'm calling an official rollover here Started spotting this morning and have had a steady temp decline over the past 3 days. Onward to June! GL everyone!
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
This might be a dumb question, but what exactly is a "rollover?" I've seen it used on POAS threads... Is that different from saying you're out?
honeydew / 7295 posts
@HeartAbandoned: good luck in June sweetie! I'm sorry about AF. Make sure to treat yourself.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@pinkcupcake: means you are rolling over to the next month, so yes basically you are out for this cycle.

Hi Ladies! Congrats to all the mamas to be!
I've been lurking on the thread and reading everyone's posts but didn't post as this cycle has been a little off for me. I had a bunch of negative OPKs days past when I usually O (I almost always have a very predictable cycle) I was getting frustrated with the OPKs and decided yesterday to stop using them this month. Then this morning my temperature went up so hopefully the next couple days temperatures will tell if I really did O. Been on an EOD BD schedule so I think we probably covered our bases.
Fingers crossed for everyone!!

Another negative OPK at CD 21. I think it is lighter than previous days, but it is pretty hard to tell when the control lines aren't always the same darkness. This is worse than negative pregnancy tests at this point, because at least with a negative pregnancy test you can start fresh soon. I'm worried this will end up being a long and unsuccessful cycle that will just push back all my other cycles and therefore my long-term timeline.

Just popping in and great to see that May is off to a good start! Hoping more and more BFPs

@HappyBluebird: Not to be too personal but do you monitor CM?
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@Radish: Ughhhh...this is why I am forgoing OPKS this cycle. They can be so freaking frustrating! Have you tried the Clear Blue Easy Digital OPKS? At least, those are definitive. I, apparently, get a long steady surge and it was always hard to tell if positive. I didn't realize my positives were positives until they were obviously negative. I'm sorry....
clementine / 957 posts
@simplyfelicity: Officially I did not this cycle or the last. I usually don't have any major changes with CM as far as I can tell. I have the usual dry spell after AF but I don't seem to ever really get EWCM just what I would consider watery CM. This cycle I noticed one day that was probably closer to EWCM, that was 2 days ago. Maybe I'm checking wrong or I'm just clueless as to what I should actually be looking for.
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@HappyBluebird: Watery is totally fertile! Some women get so much watery cm that they don't notice the EWCM. I BD during watery cm (lasted three days) and never noticed much EWCM and got PG. It didn't stick, but the process still worked!

@HappyBluebird:
A couple links I have found helpful:
This one is a pretty light introduction to CM:
http://www.parenting.com/article/how-cervical-mucus-helps-predict-your-most-fertile-days
This one is much more informative and even has pictures that wont make you want to vomit:
http://nfp.marquette.edu/monitor_cervical_mucus.php
This is an article about the success of CM checking:

@simplyfelicity: So sorry to hear that, but thank you so much for the information! Makes me feel better that I'm not totally clueless! I've got some reading up to do!
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@HappyBluebird: Of course! This is my first month really using CM to predict O but I noticed I got watery CM O-1, O and O+1. It totally aligned with my OPKS and CM is much more obvious and free! I have read that some people don't use OPKS, just CM. We will see! I am still waiting for fertile CM this cycle. I am only on cd 12 though and don't O til either 15 or 16.
clementine / 957 posts
@simplyfelicity: Fingers crossed for you!!
I think next cycle I will try just CM, and temping of course. The OPKs frustrated me to the point that I think I want to leave them alone for a month and see. This is only our second month trying (really probably just the first because last month was more NTNP) so I figure its not worth getting stressed over just yet!

I wanted to throw in my endorsement for the Marquette Method (second link)
It's what the doctors in the practice I go to teach. I think their CM definitions are way more clear than FFs. I don't really understand the need for four different adjectives.

Congrats to everyone who got their positives and good luck to everyone rolling over to June!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@simplyfelicity: Too cheap for it. I would rather just BD more often than spend that much money to monitor my cycle. The last two cycles my positives were very obvious, this cycle I either missed the surge or haven't gotten it yet. I had what I believe to be ovulation spotting, which is abnormal for me, so I'm just calling this a wonky cycle and ready to move forward.
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@Radish: They are super expensive for the ones I want to use! That's why I am trying nature's OPK because you can easily miss a surge but not CM (unless you don't have a lot to begin with,)
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Radish: They also have a user manual PDF at http://nfp.marquette.edu/pdf/nfp_user_manual.pdf
Edit: the intro is a little "churchy" (openness to life/.god's plan, etc) ...but if you don't mind that, the information within the manual is actually super helpful
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@MaryM: That is awesome! I had no idea there was a difference between CM and vaginal secretions! I need to read up.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@HappyBluebird: hello and welcome!
@Radish: for Pete's sake! I'm so sorry doll. That's the pits. I remember Adria having a long cycle right before her bfp and she was so tired of BD but just kept it going. Does cm or cp or anything else give you any indication you might have O'd already or be close. I hope you get some closure soon. Preferably in the form of a BFP!
@simplyfelicity: thanks for the links! Very helpful.
I will be POAS a few days later because f this late ovulation. I am 99 % sure this isn't our month. I feel like I needed the break but my attention to my health hasn't been very good this month and it shows. I would be surprised if a pregnancy made it through that!
Good luck to all the upcoming testers!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@simplyfelicity: Yeah, I'm frustrated because I have gone through all the CM phases it explains, but my OPKs are essentially unchanged. They are not getting darker or lighter. I conceived my LO by just knowing my cycle and watching CM. I only started using OPKs this time because I suspected breastfeeding was screwing up my cycles.
@MaryM: Thanks!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@MrsMccarthy: I had light spotting for about 12 hours mixed with fertile CM 4 days ago and have had various forms of fertile CM the last 5 days, but I am not sure I do today (but my cervix is really high right now so it is a bit hard to check). My plan is to put the OPKs away and BD through the rest of the week and then just wait.
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@Radish: Hmmm...some women never get a positive OPK but still conceive. I am still thinking you are in! When do you normally O? What cd are you?
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Radish: Have you considered temping (or do you temp)?
If you're mostly worried with seeing how regular (or not) your cycles are, I would think temping would have less chance of error as long as you can do it at relatively the same time each day.
i've been doing OPKs for the same reason, because my cycles are WAY wonky...but I always feel better if a temp shift confirms what I've suspected with OPKs (even though sometimes it's been off...but I still go by temps over OPKs)
nectarine / 2079 posts
@simplyfelicity: Today is CD 21. I ovulated on CD 16 last time and CD 19 the time before. I didn't use OPKs prior than that, but my cycles have varied from 28-40 days over the past few years mostly being 30-34 days and I could usually guesstimate it. This time I'm pretty much ?? ??
nectarine / 2079 posts
@MaryM: Right now I'm not in a good routine to temp. My days rarely start at the same time and my sleep is too precious with a 17 month old. If I continue to have trouble, I will surely make the effort. My last two cycles before this were really normal, though. I think looking at my cycle history I do have random long cycles (usually stressful times).
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@Radish: I never got a positive OPK either and I resisted the urge to buy more quite easily. I'm CD 17, so figure we'll BD for the next two days more and call it.
The only problem is that I don't know when I can test reliably.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Espion: Yeah, that is part of the reason I kept going with OPKs. I don't mind the BDing still, but I do mind not knowing when to expect AF. to you.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@Radish: the spotting seems like it should mean ovulation but I think you are smart to go another week then c'est la vie! We were both so lucky to conceive first try with our first bit seems like our bodies are giving us a bit more of a time for our second. Remind me how old your LO is and not or girl? I have a 20 month old son.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@MrsMccarthy: 17 month old daughter. As she approached the year and a half mark the child spacing issue stresses me out more. I have 5 more tries to get them 2 grade levels apart.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@Radish: yeah I know how you feel. I really hope your daughter gets a little sibling this month! Five months is a good amount of time so I feel like you will definitely get there within it.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Radish: FWIW...my sister and I are 30 months apart and I always wished there was another year between us. It made for major fights when we got to high school and both interacted with the grade between us. She thought I was stealing her friends. lol

@Anya: can i make the list...sometime around the end of May like the 29th or 30th please!
