Can I just b!t*h for a second? How come I am never going to be a woman who thinks, "Oh, maybe I'd like to have a baby soon... oops, KU! What a surprise!" It's just not fair. All of the women in my family are super fertile and love to talk about how easy it is for *all* of *us* to get pregnant whenever we want. I feel like punching all of *them* in the face.

@septca: I'm right there with ya! Although I may never know the extent of your struggles (sometimes I worry I might offend someone if I say I identify with them but they think that my journey pales in comparison to theirs. So I'm being careful to respect your circumstances whilst saying I am staring to truly understand how you might feel). I see women getting Ku while breast feeding their 14 year old and 10 year old, I see women having their second on the first month trying at 42 years old, I see women working overtime on gender related diets and I think it's totally great outwardly and in my reasonable head but my green eyed monster head feels so sad.

@septca: I'm not really one to talk since LO was kind of like that... but this experience TTCing for LO 2 has been very humbling. I don't wish this on anyone. *big big hugs*

Oh and dorky confession but my present to myself this month is a Disney Malificent doll! I just got the last one on amazon. So I'm 37 next month and I bought myself a Barbie. I have always loved Malificent and sleeping beauty. When I was a kid they didn't have dolls of them so I had to fashion my own. Now she will be mine!

@Raindrop: Some of my coworkers (both knowing about our issues and those who don't) joke that I'm next. I remind them that I'm the only one left I have to laugh otherwise it's just too depressing, I guess. Are you 6DPO too??

@septca: "Lovely sack" made me LOL a bit... I'm such a perv.

@LindsayInNY: Oops I calculated wrong. I think I'm dpo 5, so close! We could have been dpo twins!

@MrsMccarthy: Are you going to see the movie? That movie looks soooooo good. I bought the Rapunzel barbie when I was college and got a weird look at the girl that was clearly younger than me ringing me up. Still have it along with others. Though now thinking back at it... why didn't the cashier think I was buying it for a younger cousin or something? Maybe b/c of the goofy OMG I'm getting this doll happy face.... *ponders*

@Raindrop: hahahah! I think we might be the same person. Heheh. I have Desperately Seeking Susan Dolls, A Veronic Doll from Archie and now my maleficient will join them. I am so so so excited to see the movie. It's my birthday next month so i think that could be my present. It might be terrible bt i love maleficent and i love angelina so i think ill still enjoy it.

@MrsMccarthy: Disney has a villians series... I have the one from... you guessed it tangled. I wonder if they are going to get a maleficent one... the might... *googling*. Ooo they have maleficent. AND Ursula .. I love the little mermaid... need to buy this one too.

I love angelina too... I love jennifier anston too... so it leaves me conflicted about the brad thing... I know so weird... why does that affect me?!

Just wanted to jump in and remind you all that I'm still cheering you on daily, from my lurker status this month! I'm officially preventing now, a lot of which has to do with the decline of my marriage. I'm tempted to post a separate post about that, but anyway. I'm still a cheerleader for you this month, and the next, and the next. Sending my love!!

So here's my report back from my WTF fertility consult today:

    1. DH's SA: The doctor wasn't concerned at all. She said things like "excellent, great, amazing." I've been feeling like the sky is falling because of 8% morphology but she was not concerned at all.

    2. For me: She ordered CD3/21 blood work. She's also requesting an HSG from my insurance. I pray at least some of the HSG is covered. For girls who had to pay anything for the HSG, do you remember how much it cost?

    3. How to proceed: She said I could just keep trying since nothing seems to be wrong. Alternatively, she could put me on clomid for up to three months. This would be clomid with timed intercourse. She's confident about the good success rates with clomid. If I'm not pregnant after three cycles of clomid w/ TI then I would move on to an RE for IUI and whatnot.

I'm going to stick with my doctor as long as possible. If nothing can be found wrong, I'm hesitant to move to an RE and the stronger meds and the increased cost. I'd probably wait around a while and even look into different insurance that may cover it all. Or I'd cry to my mom for help paying for it.

Meanwhile, DH and I will be on all sorts of vitamins. And I might as well start seriously considering acupuncture.

@MrsMcD: I am sometimes the minority opinion in this regard, but I am 100% in favor of sticking with your OB for a reasonable amount of time (3-6 months?) if that it what your insurance covers.

Fwiw, I have excellent federal employee health insurance and my HSG cost $150.

@MrsMcD: Thanks for the update. I'm glad there is nothing seemingly wrong with you but at the same time that's also frustrating.

Funny you mentioned acupuncture. During my off friday last week I went to grab some eats at a near by shopping complex near my condo and there was an acupuncture place, like seriously 2 minutes drive away from me... and the first I thought I had was hey I should go there maybe it will help with TTCing.

@MrsMcD: i was just popping by this thread because I'm still silently cheerleading for all you ladies until I'm ready to join in again, but saw your cost questions. I wanted to let you know that my HSG wasn't covered by insurance and it was $450 with my RE's self pay discount. And when I was on clomid it was only about $40 without insurance either. Good luck and glad to hear your doctor wasn't too concerned at your WTF appointment!

@Sprite: Thank you so very much! $450 is high, but its not so high that I wouldn't do it. Maybe I will call my doctor's office and ask about their cash-payment discounts.

@Raindrop: Let me know if you try it! The lady acupuncturist that I want to go to is quite a drive from my house and that's one of my main hold ups on starting.

@MrsMcD: I'm CD17 today, so this is very late for me to not have seen a positive OPK yet, but I may get one this evening. It feels odd but I'm sure it's because of the m/c. Hopefully I'm just a few days away. We're doing EOD until then. Hope your crosshairs come soon!

@septca: A little late to the party but, I would rather have that than someone who didn't want another, is well past her "prime" and accidentally gets KU like my sister in law. She is 43, has 4 kids already, one of whom is graduating from high school in a month, and did not plan for or want another kid. I'm like seriously? WTF. I'm a little salty, can you tell? Really I'm just annoyed because I am disgusted by how she is going through this pregnancy, since she doesn't really want it she just didn't bother quitting smoking and has not yet been to the Dr last I heard.

@MrsMcD: re: HSG cost... It *should* be diagnostic, not treatment, so it should at least be covered. What is your insurance say about diagnostics? Interestingly, I had my first HSG at the same time as my lap. That whole shebang was also $150, as was my *entire* 10 months of pregnancy (including L&D) because it's cost per doctor, not procedure. Go figure.

  35. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@septca: Wow you have great insurance!

  36. Marfi

    clementine / 794 posts

@septca: @MrsMcD: @septca: Luckily DH agrees with my thinking about his sister or I would feel bad, he has asthma from his dad smoking when he was young. Also, my SIL lives in Pittsburgh while we are in Cleveland so we don't see her super often.

@MrsMcD: glad the doc was happy with your DH's SA results!

Regarding the HSG costs, all together I was billed around $1400 and insurance has covered about $650 of it.
BUT, I need to fight with billing at the hospital b/c it looks like I was double charged for part of the procedure (same thing is on both the bill from the lab and from my doctor). It will be a $450 difference if I was double billed (before insurance).
I don't have any fertility coverage, but everything was supposed to have been billed as diagnostic and covered at 80%.

CD12. Life has been crazy but improving. I'm going to have a break from working this summer, which DH thinks will make a difference in getting me KU. My current work situation is MAJORLY stressful, and the new one- not so much.

Well, I had my 3rd day (I thought) of high temps this morning and was expecting FF to put me at 3DPO...but instead, after putting in my temp, it surprised me with 5DPO. Weird. I really don't think I'm any more than 3 or maybe 4DPO based on + tests and some possible O cramping...but hey, whatever, I'll take 5DPO if it makes me feel better!
If I can make it to this weekend without spotting, I'll probably start testing...
Is it weird that I honestly feel like it's impossible to ever imagine seeing a positive pregnancy test again?
Also, all of the moms I know who have babies close to LO's age and are pregnant with their 2nd are all having the opposite sex this time around. Weird again.
