Just saw a post about the cloth menstrual pads and it reminded me I've been meaning to ask this! Diva cup users - what do you use to clean your cup? In the instructions it lists a TON of ingredients you can't use, and they don't sell the divawash where I currently live (and shipping would be more than it's worth). So what do you use?

I'd just wash it in the bathroom sink with whatever soap was handy. I never had any problems with it, and didn't even look at the "do not use" list.

I rinse with water, and I boil it periodically to kill germs (they advocate doing this when storing between cycles). My body is sensitive to anything that might disrupt ph, it seems especially so when I am having a period. So if I don't want to get a yeast infection I am better of sticking with just water. The divawash seemed a little like a rip-off to me (but I completely understand where if you were going to use a soap you would want something that was appropriate for the material of the cup and that had an appropriate ph).

I just rinse it off with water each time I empty it during my period, then at the end of my period, I boil it in a pot of water mixed with a bit of white vinegar. It's always worked for me.

I rinse mine with just hot water, too. Sometimes I just use plain handsoap if I feel like it needs it. I also boil it at the end of each cycle before storing it, never boiled with vinegar, though. I'll have to try that!

I used Dr. Bronner - Castile Soap baby mild unscented to clean it. I think basically any natural unscented soap is ok.. I think I got this recommendation from a reviewer on Divawash. It's on amazon.com for about 20 bucks I think, but the size of that bottle should last a life time of diva cup washing.

I rinsed mine off during my cycle and then when it was over I would boil it for about 5-10 minutes and store it in a clean bag. LOVE the diva cup!

Perfect!! just rinsing with hot water and then boiling between is what I've been doing, I just wasn't sure if it was the most sanitary option... Glad that seems like what many other bees are doing too, I'll just keep doing that!
@Mrs. Twine: I have the same problem with pH which is why I was hesitant to use any normal hand soaps or anything... also why I switched to the DivaCup!
@PurplePumps: I love Dr. Bonner's soaps, but they're super expensive where I live. Maybe I'll see if someone can send some in a care package from home
