I'm planning a "Meet the Baby" party and I want to go with a backyard BBQ style menu, but slightly more upscale and in a smaller, "cocktail" version.
I was thinking about doing a variety of mini sliders (chipotle black bean burgers, falafel burgers, chicken patties, etc) and fries (regular and sweet potato) in paper cones.
Any other ideas? If you have any ideas for other BBQ type foods that can be served in individual app-style servings, please share!

Corn on the cob. Break one into three pieces and serve skewers.

Are you hoping for all things you don't need utensils for? Or are you OK with needing a fork as long as it's kind of single serving size?

What kabobs? You could do chicken, beef or veggie. I love using pearl onions, crimini mushrooms, sweet peppers, and zucchini. Yum!

@Arden: I love the cone look for fries and chips, but wonder about the taste. What's your plan to keep the fries tasting good while sitting out in the air for awhile?
You could serve cole slaw (and other traditional BBQ slides) in individual cups lined up in artistic way on platters or tiered stands. J Alexander's makes a blue cheese cole slaw.

Okay, so I'm thinking:
- Variety of slider burgers/sandwiches
- Paper cones with sweet potato fries, regular fries, and green bean fries.
- Clear plastic cups filled with potato salad and coleslaw.
- Mini jars with baked beans.
- Veggie skewers served with ranch dip in shot glasses, and fruit skewers served with sweet cream in shot glasses.
- Mini paper bags filled with different kinds of chips.
Drinks:
- Flavored lemonades
- Glass bottled sodas
and for dessert:
- Mini pies (the ones from walmart that are super cheap and come in lots of flavors and will save me tons of work)
- ICE CREAM BAR! Just vanilla and chocolate, with some bowls of different toppings and sauces.

I think you should add in some kind of potato salad appetizer too. You cant do BBQ without potato salad. Maybe something like this?

Red/yellow/green peppers cut into 1/4's, spoon goat cheese into each piece, sprinkle diced mushrooms and onions on top of goat cheese. Top level of BBQ, mmmm.

I vote for fruit skewers like @Mrs. Tricycle: suggested. I did these for DD's preschool thanskgiving party with a jumbo marshmallow on top and it was a hit!
