The first 2 weeks I really pushed full feedings. Once she hit her birthweight I stopped waking her & let her decide moreso when she was done... Usually only feeding off one breast unless it was growth spurt day.

If she only takes a little maybe she is almost ready to skip that feeding and give you a longer stretch of sleep! I bet it is just around the corner.

Feed to sleep then stop. I am trying now to reduce her nighttime calories so she's not dependent on those night time feedings

Yep, if she's sleeping then I'm sleeping, waking this baby is the same type of crime as stealing the last piece of cake or not replacing the toilet paper roll!!

i used to when i was engorged but now anymore. he wakes up twice a night, so one breast for the first feeding and the other the second feeding.

I can't get Sawyer to feed when he doesn't want to. Trying to "urge" him to feed more when he has stopped leads to him getting really angry and screaming! He is very aware of when he is full!

When I was EBF, I would rub his feet to get him to keep sucking if he fell asleep too quick. Otherwise he'd wake up in an hour to be fed again. It only worked for a few more minutes, though. He sleeps pretty heavy at night.
Now that I supplemnt, I let him BF as long as he wants, then offer him like 2 oz in a bottle (usually formula, but sometimes pumped milk), and he'll chug that right down.

So funny because last night as I was feeding M at 3:30 am and I was engorged I pondered if I should offer the other after she finished the left. My thought was no because I've never since she was a few weeks old.

I don't really think the ounce per hour applies to her. I feel she nurses much more efficiently in the middle of the night yet after that feeding she'll only sleep for 2 or 3 hours. But the last feeding of the night will sustain her for almost 6 hours lately.

I would stop when she fell asleep. Sometimes she would only feed for a few minutes!
