Did you go to middle school or junior high? I had never heard of junior high until I went to college. Middle school for us was grades 6-8.
Some friends of ours have kids in school in northern VA and they don't have either. They go to elementary school until 6th grade and then 7th starts high school. I think that must be a tough transition. Especially for the boys.

We have an intermediate school near our neighborhood which goes from 6th-8th. I went to a middle school which was fine. I feel like 9th graders are too old to be around 7th graders...my sisters went to a junior high and I just thought it was too weird that some of the old 9th graders were driving already.
I definitely don't like the idea of no middle school/junior high at all! That's a huge jump.

We had junior high grades 7-9 and high school 10-12. This was on the east coast of Canada.

We had both. Middle school for 5th and 6th grade then junior high for 7th and 8th. They were seperate schools. 5th grade was the first time all the kids in town went to school together, since we had 4 elementary schools.

Neither. My elementary school went from pre-k through 8th grade. Then high school was 9th-12th. we called it middle school though, once we got to 6th grade (and got lockers), even though we werent in a different building.

Middle school 6-8th!
Most of the schools around here (MI) are middle schools. There was 1 jr high (7-9) nearby.

We had middle school. Elementary was K-5, Middle was 6-8, and HS was 9-12.

My school was a K-high school so I was never really in a middle school but grades 6-8 was considered "middle school".

@bpcmarj: Same for me. Elementary school had K-4, the middle school next door had 5 & 6, the junior high had 7 & 8, and the high school had 9-12.
After I graduated, I think they were changing the junior high to 6-8, but I don't know if that ever happened.

Well I went to a private school and we called K-4 the "lower school" and 5-8 the "upper school". But when talking to others I talk about "middle school" since that's what it was called at the public school system in my town.

Junior High, 6-8. Well, I started the equivalent of 6th at a British secondary school and then went to two junior highs when we moved back stateside.

It was called junior high for me from 7-8. My younger brother went to a middle school which was 6-8.
In my cousin's district they have middle school from 5-6, junior high from 7-8 and high school from 9-12.

We went to Junior High for 7-8th grade. This was actually attached to the high school, just in a different part. We had 1 class when we had to use the high school hallways and it was always a big deal!
