Anyone going to midnight mass tonight? I'm 37 weeks and don't know if I can make it out that late (even if ours starts at 10) but I don't know when I would be able to go again! The other option is 9am tomorrow. I've never gone on Christmas Day!

If I didn't have young kids, I'd go to Midnight Mass! I miss that option.
Christmas morning is usually really, really crowded...
and it's tough to get all four of us out of the house, all dressed up, and ON time in the mornings, let alone a holiday morning after they open presents... Plus we have two families to visit on Christmas Day too, so it really is a busy day for us. But that's our situation!

I loveeee midnight mass but we are out of town this year! If I were at home we would definitely go, DS would probably sleep through it. Carols start at 1130, mass at 12.

That's our plan tonight, but I've been so tired lately, I don't know if I'll make it. The backup is to go Christmas Day, but like you, I've never done that. Would feel so strange not to go to mass on Christmas Eve!

WE're going to children's mass today at 4, but at our parish you can't even get tickets to midnight mass unless you get them before Dec. 12th. I guess that's because my parish is the State Cathedral?

@Mrs. Jacks: tickets?! Whoa.
We're going to 9pm but I'm still kind of worried bringing the LO's. We went to a 7pm Easter vigil at a cathedral and we were there until 1 am! I was 35 weeks pregnant then.

No, we are staying home. LO goes to bed at 7:30 and it's too much to wake her up and bring her out, she would be a monster!

Could you take a long nap before the midnight mass? I played music at all 4 of our Christmas services last year when I was pg. I had to sit a lot but was ok. Keep in mind if its crowded you might get overheated! But it would be a nice service to go to since you may not have the opportunity for a few years or more.
I love the candlelight services, but we are going to a mid afternoon jazz service today. I think it will be nice and mellow and easier with two kids in tow!

@Mrs. Jacks: we have the state cathedral too, but we are in Montana so a little different, hahaha!

@HLK208: omg, we went to an Easter vigil once (pre-kids)... I didn't know then that they are usually 3 hours long! so wow... yours was even longer!
We might attempt an early Midnight Mass next year when the girls are 5 and 2 yo. They are night owls anyway, so if it starts at 9pm or so, it shouldn't be too bad. But yeah, it's been a while since we've went!

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh man, I went to that once. It is quite the production!!
I am visiting my parents right now and they live in a small town with an even tinier catholic church and the only option is 11:15am on Christmas morning, so that's what we'll do.

@HLK208: weird, right?
@MediaNaranja: Midnight mass or the children's production?@jedeve: Have you been to the Utah one? I haven't been to yours yet.

@Mrs. Jacks: no, though I think my husband has been there for Easter vigil.
I survived! We went to our regular parish, not the cathedral. I only nodded off during the first reading. I have kind of given up on standing though!

@jedeve: I think you get a pass on standing! Merry Christmas!

@Mrs. Jacks: @Mrs. Jacks: I still try to stand up during the gospel. I started to and then they decided to process around the whole church. I sat back down and waited, haha!
