Is a midsize SUV big enough for a family of 3? DS is 19 months and in a Peg Perego car seat. We don't plan on having another at least for another 1.5 - 2 years, if at all.

I am going to test drive a car on Saturday that seems like a great deal and fits perfectly into our budget, but I worry that I will think it's too small. I've only told two people IRL that I am going to see this car and they've both warned me that midsize SUV's are too small for a family. But they are both families of 4, which I understand is a tighter squeeze into an SUV.

If you are a family of 3 (or 4, 5, 6, etc.) what size car do you drive and why? Is it big enough? Am I wasting my time test driving a midsize?
