Does anyone's LO have a milk allergy?
We went to the doctor yesterday after LO's allergic reaction on Sunday night and we're going to an allergist this week - doc thinks LO might have a milk allergy since the rice cereal she was eating had skim milk powder in it.

@chopsuey119: I know! I will be so sad! But I blame myself, sort of, because I'm lactose intolerant and I've tricked myself into believing that it's all my fault. Sadness!

She's not here yet but there's a high probability she will since my husband is lactose intolerant and so is my brother.

@Rubies: what types of symptoms did she have from the milk? The good news is lactose intolerance and dairy allergies are totally different things. Yeah, dairy allergies stink but you can get around them really easily!! I hope the allergist can give you some answers.

@mediagirl: As soon as she ate the rice cereal, her entire face and hands flared up in hives. Poor thing was trying to scratch her eyeballs!

@Rubies: hopefully she will grow out of it? my LO could not have regular cow based formula but was fine to drink whole milk after 1 year. and don't blame yourself please!

What are you feeding her now, in the meantime? Hopefully she can tolerate soy okay so you can move into that.

@mediagirl: Just fruits, veggies, and homemade beef broth for now (with congee). Doctor said to avoid all baby cereal just until we see the allergist.

Oh no! Well at least it will be nice to know so you'll know what to avoid. And you should already know how to cook for it if you can't eat milk either.
