Never had one myself but I know a few moms who've had one. They took a sterilized needle and popped them!

I had one! It's actually kind of fun? to pop and it made me feel accomplished.
First of all, use something sterile. I have to admit, I just used a freshly opened safety pin. I didn't sterilize it after taking it out of the packaging which I probably should have.
I grabbed my breast and squeezed the milk bubble and just pricked it. It popped and a little milk came out. But then, I rinsed off my breast and got hooked up to my pump. That's when milk really flowed! I felt immediate relief. I honestly think I hadn't ever felt my right breast that empty-ever. I def recommend pumping after popping the blister because you want to make sure you clear the duct really, really well!
Good luck-let us know how you feel after doing it!

I've never had one either, but @turtledoves explanation sounds pretty badass

@TurtleDoves: For some weird reason, that sounds fun! I like popping things. Kind of obsessed actually.

@TurtleDoves: That does sound pretty badass, I'm scared. Now I'm not sure it's even a blister. It's like a white spot on my ninny and I did poke at it a bit and I think it's a blister but I'm not sure.

Have had too many to count! I agree with @TurtleDoves that popping is the way to relief, provided you can actually see the blister and it is at the surface. If not, you have to try and do what you can to get it clear without popping or get it to come to the surface. I kept it moistened with a cotton ball soaked in olive oil. Also did Epsom salt soaks. Started nursing on the blister side every session. Massage and warm compress. Moist heat is very important. If I couldn't get it to clear in a day or two of doing these things, I would Sterilize a needle and pull outward at the blister . Do not poke in, you could introduce bacteria .. Pump or nurse right away.. And after it is cleared make sure you exfoliate to prevent the pore from growing over and becoming a chronic problem. Speaking from experience here! Good luck! Also it could keep hurting for a day or two after you clear it so don't worry.

@banana: I know--makes me feel like an awesome surgeon or something
@Maysprout: did you handle it? You'll know it's a blister is it looks like a teeeeenie pimple made of milk. Pop it and find out haha

@Maysprout: I get them the same way, just a little white dot. I usually just pop it like a pimple while I am in the shower (the heat helps soften the skin and keeps it clean while popping). Mine have always been little so I never got any relief.
A friend of mine said she got out like a big piece of limp spaghettti out of hers. I guess it was thickened milk backed up in the duct!

I got one early on with a sterilized needle and felt very badass indeed. I also love popping things (zits, etc) so it was awesome. Unfortunately that led to many a night of me wielding a sterilized needle and sterilized tweezers trying to pop a milk blister that didn't exist (they were probably just clogged ducts much deeper in the breast) and Wagon Sr. begging me not to do it!

@mrs. wagon: lol!
I was too chicken to pop mine, and just did a ton of massaging and hot showers. Eventually it went away but i probably should have popped it to avoid the pain. I would pop it if i were you though...especially before it leads to mastitis!
