Can you share your experience after having the Mirena removed? Specifically related to bleeding and clotting?
I had the Mirena removed two weeks ago. Five days after it was removed, I started bleeding fairly heavily with clots. It had started to lighten up after a week, so I thought it was just a long heavy period, but now it's heavy again with more clots. This is day 11.

Mine came out and I spotted.
Then two weeks later I had a normal period. Then a month later it was the end of days. Biblical, Red Sea type bleeding.
After that I was completely normal.

I had a heavy period within about a week of my Mirena being removed. I can't remember if there were clots, to be honest. I remember thinking it seemed realllllly heavy, but after having no periods for several years, I can't trust that it was legit heavy or if my version of "normal" had just shifted. 
After that one, I resumed having a totally normal period every 30 days, like I had pre-Mirena

Pretty much the same as @oliviaoblivia: though even the heavy period lasted my usual length (5 days). It was rough for a couple days but wasn't nearly as bad as I was anticipating.

@yoursilverlining: Yeah, I was thinking this seems REALLY heavy, but I know it's not abnormally heavy since I don't have to change my pad constantly. But you're giving me hope that this is normal!

I think my period returned after 2 weeks of removal. It's been a while but I think it was a pretty heavy and then leveled off and became normal.
Honestly though I think everyone has a different experience, and doesn't necessarily mean that what you are experiencing is wrong compared to how others are.

I had about two weeks of very heavy bleeding after mine was removed. Like flashback to junior high, bleeding through tampons and pads and onto clothes and sheets heavy. It tapered off after that. I think the first real period was heavy but then normal after.

Mine was super light, but I've always had light periods. I started bleeding two days after removal, but it only lasted a few days. My first cycle after that was short, but my next period was typical for me.

I had no spotting nothing when I got mine out. Two weeks later I got my period. Way way heavier then pre-mirena/baby.

@Adira: I definitely had heavy bleeding (only had mine 2.5 months or so and bled pretty much that entire time, too) and I can't remember about the clots but I get clots often enough that I could just forget. I bled a couple days within having it and then stopped for maybe a week and then had a heavy period.

@travellingbee: I had it removed because it completely killed my sex drive. 
BUT from talking to other people, including my doctor, I think that's not the normal experience for people. I just got extra unlucky. Besides that, I loved it.

@Adira: my periods prebaby were 7 days but post Mirena they were 3-4 heavy days and then a day or two of spotting after.

I don't remember any spotting, but I had my normal regular periods on the Mirena. Doctor said that I was probably ovulating while it was in. Next period was on time and exactly the same.

I didn't bleed when I got my out, but my first period after was crazy, chunky, I had to stay home from work for two days it was such a mess.

Also killed my sex drive and made me a bit not excited about anything. It was such a relief to get it out, I had no idea.

@maddyz: Thank you for sharing your experience!! I was the only person I know that had the Mirena affect their sex drive like this, so I'm kind of relieved I'm not the only one! Hopefully things are back to normal for you now?
