I just don't understand how religion can play this much of a role in a government where it's suppose to have separate church and state?! I thought one main point of being a Christian is that you don't judge!!! My aunt is baptist and we live in Texas, and she would have totally voted for this law. It's obviously a point of contention between us, but talking to her is like talking to a wall. It's like she's made it her job to make sure nobody gets to hell? I don't get it. Other people's lives are not my business and it shouldn't be hers either.

I'm so disgusted by the whole thing - the argument that I find most bizarre coming out of NC is that if individuals who are born with male parts are allowed to use a women's restroom that women will be endangered by would be rapists pretending to be transgendered and laying in wait in the bathroom for victims. First of all - what?! That makes zero sense - if that was a legitimate baiting technique, I assume that rapists could just, you know, disguise themselves as a woman. Not real need to disguise yourself as a transgendered woman since no one is doing crotch checks in the stalls. Second, does anyone really think a rapist on the prowl is going to be dissuaded from his crime by the social mores that prevent a man from using a women's restroom. Like damn, I would have attacked that woman but for the little plaque on the bathroom door. It's ridiculous.

What I do will be incredibly interesting to see is how big corporations use their clout to bring these states back to their senses. The NFL said it wouldn't host the super bowl in Atlanta if the law wasn't vetoed by the governor and PayPal pulled out of plans to come to Charlotte. I wonder who else will step up. It's nice to see them use their force for good instead of evil....

It's disgusting, but it's not shocking anymore. Which in itself is sad. I was asking my friend today, is this year just way more insane politically, or has it always been and I wasn't paying attention? All the anti-lbgtq bills, the anti-abortion legislation gone mad, Trump. Wtf America?

I'm so sick of this BS. It's all based on ignorance and fear-mongering. Take the bathroom issue, for instance. There has not been one single recorded instance of a transgender person assaulting someone in the bathroom. Yet we use the unfounded fear of that to enact actual legislation? Meanwhile there have been many transgender people who have been assaulted in bathrooms, but we're just going to throw them to the wolves apparently. And what kind of idiot believes a would-be rapist would think, "Oh hmm, well now that I'm explicitly not allowed in the women's restroom, I guess I won't assault someone" as if rapists have some sort of deep-rooted respect for the law.

And Mississippi is allowing state employees to refuse to issue marriage licenses to gay couples? Like it or not, gay marriage is legal now, per the Supreme Court. If you can't follow the law as a government employee because of your personal convictions, get a different job. Government employees should not get to pick and choose which parts of the law they enforce.
