As we slowly tell our friends and family, the overall consensus I've heard is...
"OMG YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO HAVE THE CUTEST BABY! MIXED BABIES ARE THE CUTEST!"
While I adore the sentiment, sometimes, it's off-putting that that's the first thing that comes to ppls' minds.
I am korean, Dh is 50/50 polish/german...

Yes, isn't it bad? My mom has even said that the LO would not have been as cute if she was 100% Asian. AHEM. Mom, our family is 100% Asian. Gee, thanks.

Yup, we've actually been hearing it since way before we got married. I'm 100% Vietnamese and DH is a mix of German, Irish, native american.

I'm Irish/English & DH is Nigerian. While I totally agree that most mixed race children are gorgeous, it does get old when everyone likes to remind you- in case you had forgotten your children would be mixed=/

Actually, my childhood best friend who is getting married this weekend has a funny mom... she has always begged her daughter to marry a caucasian so that her grandkids could be beautiful. She's getting married (and starting with the babies right away, which her fiance is fully aware of!! haha) and.... not only is he white, but he's straight up British!! From the UK.
I have seen a lot of half asian, half caucasian babies who are REALLY beautiful. My cousin (100% Korean and GORGEOUS) married a really beautiful Greek man (with blond hair and blue eyes) and their four boys are all absolutely gorgeous. All four of them look a little different-- asian coloring with caucasian eyes, or asian eyes with caucasian coloring. When they are all in middle and high school together, they are going to rule the town.

Most people just said "you guys are going to have the cutest baby!" but nobody really made comments about her being half white and half Asian...A lot of our closest friends are interracial couples so lots of half babies around. Some coworkers did say stuff like "half babies are so cute..they seem to get the best features from each parent"...and I didn't mind comments like that.

Yup. We're not even pregnant, yet, and people keep asking us when we are going to have cute babies.
The DH is on the other side. He's afraid to have daughter because he doesn't want to worry about fending off the boys.

Yes, we hear it all the time too ! I am of Colombian and Guatemalan descent, and my husband is white with blue eyes. Everyone wants a tan baby with blue eyes (including me! ha ha!) I don't like the term "mixed" either though - I know what you mean about it being off putting. It's a BABY. not a "mixed" baby!

I'm soo sorry if it's offensive or annoying, but it's so true. bi-racial babies are by far the cutest babies/prettiest people ever.
My sister (english, german, norwegian) married a Peruvian and their son is sooo stinkin adorable. Seriously, we all agree he is ten times cuter than a gap model and she would totally get him into baby modeling if she knew how to get started.
The family I nanny for is also bi-racial; the father is Laos and the mom is some type of European decent (though darker, dark hair and eyes). Their children (one boy, one girl) are soo pretty. The five year old girl is seriously going to be drop-dead gorgeous when she's older.
So I'm a little jealous too

@MrsLilybugg: my hubby is tan with blue eyes and everyone kept saying things like we would be so lucky to have a little girl with Asian features and blue eyes. I assumed it was impossible but our LO has blue-grey eyes...they are beautiful but I hear they can change even up to the age of 3...everyone assumes I'll be sad if they turn brown but I think brown eyes are beautiful too.

Definitely hear this. My husband is Chinese and I'm white. My step dad told me if it's a girl, then we're going to need a shotgun. haha I feel a lot of pressure to have a cute baby now!

I'm not in an interracial relationship but I have to say it is pretty true. My husband's co-worker (who is AA) had a baby with an English lady (who is white) here and she is ridiculously gorgeous. She's really light complected and has these big brown ringlets. Plus, she got her mom's eyes so she has these huge dark gray eyes and really long black lashes. Dad's going to need a big ole stick to beat off the boys when she gets older.
I have to say... I think my baby is just as gorgeous though.

I really think beauty is in the eye of the beholder in this case. Some babies are cuter than others, that is true. As a mom I think my son's adorable, I actually feel a little offended.

I've been getting stuff like, "You're baby is going to be absolutely gorgeous." And a designer friend of mine is already calling dibs on having the LO model her baby clothes! It's really flattering but I'm a little nervous by all the comments.
Such high expectations!!! I remember doing one of those face morph images of your future baby (way before we were even TTC) and our "kid" looked ... eh ... not so cute! Hahah.
Honestly, I'm just praying for a healthy baby! But the pressure is there for a little model!

We heard it a few times before the pregnancy. Now it's just "You're baby will be so cute." I agree with @Crumbs, high expectations! Yikes!

That is all anyone talks about when we discuss the baby! It is pretty weird to be honest. I'm British Nigerian and DH is 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 Taiwanese and 1/2 Polish. The your baby will be so cute comments stress me out. Expectations are so high for the poor little bug and she isn't even here yet.

My best friend from HS is 1/2 Omanian and 1/2 Irish and she is a model. And our niece is 1/2 Philipino and 1/2 polish/german and she's ridiculously adorable.
So yeah, I can see why people say this, but I never go around saying it just in case it offends someone

But yes, we have heard this from the beginning of the time... when we were dating 10+ years ago, when we got engaged, when we got married, when we finally announced we were pregnant... It doesn't bother me too much. As long as the baby doesn't look like it did in the U/S (HELLLLLO giant dome/forehead), we'll be happy

I'm also think that most bi-racial babies are incredibly beautiful. One of the most amazing combinations I've seen we're the children of the couple that purchased my husbands old house. They were Cuban and Pilipino. Gorgeous gorgeous daughters.

We started getting: "You will make the CUTEST BABIES EVER!!!!!!!!" pretty much the day we started dating. And anytime we mention TTC in the future, people say, "Oh, I loved mixed babies - they will be so cute!!!"
What's funny is that while I'm Hispanic and DH is African-American, I am convinced they are just going to look like normal black kids. DH isn't, though. We'll see!

DH is 1/4 Japanese and very dark and I'm Swedish/ Danish/ Norwegian/ German decent- fair with blonde hair and blue eyes. People did tell us all the time what a cute baby we would have, and now that she's here they tell us how cute she is, but no one ever made a mixed or bi-racial babies are so cute comment to us. His aunt did mention, upon seeing our DD for the first time, that "boy the Asian genes in our family are strong" but no other race comments. And so far, she is tan with dark brown hair and blue eyes

I'm black, he's white. We get it ALL THE TIME, and my response is: "So, if my baby was all white or all black would they not be as cute?" Shuts them up every single time.
