Just found some mold (pretty sure it's mold) in the water reservoir of LO's humidifier.
I know I can probably clean it really well with a bleach or hydrogen peroxide solution. But will it kill everything??
Is it worth it? Should I just ditch it and buy a new one?

If its easy to clean then clean but if it's in hard to reach creveases then ditch. We had a Craine frog and it was so hard to clean I chucked it and bough a Honeywell one

I threw out many humidifiers because they were tough to clean! I say, start new

That reminds me I should probably clean my humidifier... I would say clean it but if you don't feel you could get it cleaned completely and it wasn't expensive then maybe ditch it and replace.

@dojo: it was a really nice homedics one that my SIL gifted us for the shower. It retails for almost $100!
I do have extra filters and Dh is really good at getting into the crevices. I was reading up that vinegar water then a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution should kill everything. But I'm still nervous to reuse for LO. I've been meaning to buy another because we need one for our room. Maybe we will take this one and buy a nicer one for her room in lieu of a cheapie I was going to buy for ours.

I feel like there are too many crevices you might not be able to see, I'd ditch it.

@scg00387: my reservoir is clear all around! And why can't someone invent a tank with no crevices or nooks and crannies!!!!??? Just makes sense to me!

I ditched my elephant crane humidifier. It was too much work and I ended up going without one in LO's one. I'm sure you can clean out all the mold and keep it. Those darn crevices though!

Clean it really well. Honestly, mold is an issue with EVERY humidifier. It's just the nature of how it works. So even if you throw it away, it's going to be an issue with the next one.

How much of it can you out in the dishwasher?
I would try to salvage it.
